Ugh. Going to have to call out from work today. Trying to put on a shoe (after a large dose of ibuprofen had had time to kick in) was very painful. I don’t even want to think about driving 20 minutes or more each way (the wounded foot is my right), plus being on my feet for seven hours. It’s worse today than it was yesterday, probably because of two days of being on it for seven hours each day at work, plus other walking around.

At least if I stay home today, that gives me a three-day period where I can minimize being on it. I can skip deheathenating tomorrow if I need to, and have Monday off anyway.

Might well go back to bed after making that call.

Executive decision made - I’m going to shower and dress, then head to CVS and find something to take the itch away. We’re out of milk, so I can run to Food Lion while I’m in Leonardtown. So, off to shower!! <fanfare and cheers from the crowd>

Staying indoors today sounds like a good thing for the itchies, Moooom. My mom used to keep a can of unscented anti-perspirant around the house to use on poison ivy or sumac. It didn’t do much for the itch, but it did keep it dry.

I slept in this morning then got up and fixed chicken tacos (there was a thigh in the fridge that needed to be cooked) and coffee for breakfast. Whenever I get motivated, I’ll head to the farmer’s market and grocery store. Then housework. :frowning:

I found some hydrocortisone, so after I showered, I put it on my itchies. Except for the monster one on my wrist, which now looks ready to burst, it seems to be helping. But I’m still heading into Leonardtown.

Poison ivy sucks - have I mentioned that yet???

We have decided our motivation today is zero. I finally got cleanded up a little bit ago after goin’ back to bed for a bit. OYKW arose from slumber about half an hour ago and is now in the midst of purtification. It looks like today may be a day of sloth about da cave which may or may not include cee-mint pond time. It’s hawt out there!

ETA: {{{Nettie}}} hope the foot is feelin’ better soonest.

Moooommmm That sounds horrible. Here’s hoping you get some relief soon.
Swampy. I wish I had a cement pond.
Nettie. Stay off it, maybe it will help.
Sari. If you read this you need to check in.
And **BLURF. **

A cheerful hint: Buy twice as much as you think you will need. :frowning:

Today is plotzin’ Saturday. I got a call from the local [del]adult toy store[/del]outdoor sporting goods store a bit ago.

“Mr. Hostetler, this is Bubba at The Fishing Hole. You need to stop by today to fill out some paperwork, and bring your driver’s license when you come.”

 and :dubious:

Seems my son sent me a rifle for Father’s Day and my birthday combined. VWife is not very happy because he spent more $$$ than she’s comfortable with.

Plinking, varmints, big game? Something that fires nitro express?

Plinker. Henry AR-7, .22 cal.

Mooooommm did you see my note about Tecnu? Stuff my hubby uses for your situation. They make a whole line of things, including, the usual anti-itch and stuff to get the oils off so you won’t keep spreading it. But also stuff you can use in the laundry so you don’t spread it to other clothes while washing. Good times, poison ivy. (not)

Good luck!

So far today I have accomplished eatin’ brekkie, goin’ back to bed, makin’ and eatin’ a sammich, and a nap. How ever do I keep up a pace like this!

**Sunny **- I did see your note. From what I understood (and I might have read wrong) that’s for right after you’re exposed, as opposed to a couple of days later, which is my situation. I’ve got to hope that after 3 showers, I don’t have any of the oil left on me.

We had lunch at our usual breakfast cafe and our server said when she was a kid and got into PI, her mom put her in an oatmeal bath. I’ve got oatmeal and I looked up instructions, so I’m going to give it a go. I’m not a big fan of baths, but I like the itchies even less. At worst, I sit in a tepid tub for 10 minutes…

Mom… Would washing with Dawn help? Nothing tops it for getting grease and oil off dishes, so I’d like to think it could help with poison ivy oil.

Like I said, I’m pretty sure all the oil is gone. Unfortunately, I didn’t get it off immediately, so I’ve got the rash. From what I read, if you don’t get rid of it within 30 minutes of contact, the rash starts. I’m pretty sure my initial contact was 3 days ago. And the rash spots are making me insane.

I just applied some anti-itch gel and it seems to be working. Frankly, I’m only avoiding the oatmeal bath because I don’t want to scrub the tub first. We don’t use the tub since it’s in the hall bath. But I need to clean it anyway, what with my daughter coming here on Thursday.

I’m waiting for my oatmeal bath to cool down. At kai’s suggestion on FB, I put the oatmeal in an old nylon knee-hi. It was floating in the tub. Taz retrieved it and dragged it into the hallway. Idiot cat! But it’s back in the tub and the bathroom door is closed to prevent a repeat performance.

Once the water is tepid, I’ll see how it works on my itchies. Fingers crossed here - so far, all of the topicals have worked for a short time, but the agony returns. Woe is me!!!

Oatmeal bath complete. Our tub is tiny - I’m glad we have a shower in our bathroom. I’m also glad I didn’t have poison on my torso or shoulders - no way I’d have been able to soak all that. I had a hard enough time getting seated, then getting up - thank goodness for the grab bar! Short, narrow and shallow does not a proper tub make!

But I seem to be getting some relief. We’ll see how long it lasts.

MOOOOOM you invented an oatmeal scrub for poison ivy and a cat toy! Genius! Glad you’re gettin’ some relief.

We had burgers for dindin with chips. Now I have a poke roast with sweet N.O.T. simmerin’ away in the oven. The poke and N.O.T. are in a dutch oven and I am bastin’ every so often. This will form the basis for tomorrow’s N.O.L. I foresee butterbeans and squishes as vegetative matter. I have had a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for poke roast and sweet N.O.T. so it shall be nummy. Also, I can say I have been productive and not a total sloth all day.

Which highway are they buried under?

Diggerland was great. I got to drive a backhoe and everything. Herself wondered why the construction equipment company picked NJ to build their first US park; after we passed the 27th construction company on the way there she figured it out. Clementon was a little sad. The ride part isn’t maintained really well at all and the water part has been expanded and not cared for real good either. There was more event there this PM but the Old Wench and our friends decided to Hell with the Hell Cat ------------ it is now classified by us as a “one and done or two and through”.

Hey - as a general rule, if it involves women getting naked -------------

Fell’s Naptha Laundry Soap. Just saying. Greatest thing in the world for poison ivy and related issues.
