Intellectualize song lyrics game

Xgxlx- Is that LL Cool J, “Ladies love cool James” or some such?
Windchsr- Is that Pink Floyd’s “Pigs on the wing” or something from the Wall?

I missed the name, but whoever it was who guessed Joe was correct. Somebody got it before you, but don’t let that discourage you…several of these things get solved more than once…

Welcome to the fray!

MrBoy: not even close.

… I don’t think you could get much further from my intent with that than Pink Floyd and still remain in the same decade. o.o

My problem is that the next stanza of the song contains a name I can’t think of a way to obfuscate well.

Yeah, that’s it.

At the risk of looking extremely vain I’m going to repeat my unsolved ones which may not have been seen for long (I persist in thinking they are easy but am starting to wonder if they are simply lousy songs nobody remembers) and post a new one which should be extremely easy (I mean it this time):

TR2:

Bilabial motions are in evidence, and vibrations are released. The phonemes produced have measurable volume, yet I remain dubious.

Think 80s, very 80s – MrBoy had a great but incorrect guess of “Talkin Loud And Sayin Nothin”
TR3: At intervals I attempt various projects and am simply unsuccessful in achieving my goals.
I feel my efforts are thwarted, I expend great energy in executing it but my the end result is not what I desired.
It is as if I make a great effort to focus but my aim is not reached.
All my actions and all my efforts are constantly wasted.

Mabye it’s too obscure… but think 80’s, think punk with some crossover appeal… and the original didn’t rhyme or scan either.

Here’s the new easy one:
TR4:
Much currency has been traded for goods
Many chronological measurement units have passed
A journey to the north of the city of the angels is forever imprinted on my cerebral cortex
So many actions have been committed, so much has been observed,
Yet you persist in encountering a foreign male
That which you perceive as being without utility is incomprehensible to me

It’s the last verse.

And windchsr has redefined the genre with that one, I have no clue what it is.

TR4 is “Reelin in the Years” by Steely Dan.

I think TR2 is a (HED) PE song, but I can’t remember the title… is it “Jesus”?

And finally… windchsr’s is “Snoopy vs. the Red Baron” by the Royal Guardsman. -Many thanks to my nosy father who was reading over my shoulder.

I wish I had found this thread earlier. It’s a lot of fun, but a lot of good one’s have been guessed already. Now I have to go think of one myself.

Dude! We’re on Threadspotting? That’s never happened to a thread I’ve been on!

Since two of mine are becoming dead, I’ll add four more. These are my most difficult and obscure (but still reasonably guessable, especially with hints):

L-g-B13)[major artist, pretty famous song from his earlier albums]
It would be preferable to me to share my abode with a young lady of the bark of the Cassia tree.

L-g-B14)[great 80s band–one of my favorite songs by them]
Only attempt night vision. Only attempt to make everything be productive.

L-g-B15)[this band released their first LP this year]
Linger…those others feel not affection for you in the same manner I do.

L-g-B16)[one of the great '60s bands, less-known song]
From birth to death, all we do is toil; however, this is uninteresting. If we were given this time to be alive, what is the point?

enderX, you’re right on TR4 (thanks!) but incorrect on TR2 (I must admit to my shame that I don’t know what HED (PE) is, this is definitely more in the way of a pop/new wave tune.)

Whoops, posted too soon…
L-g-B13 is “Cinammon Girl” by Neil Young

Correct!

Maybe I shouldn’t have been so fast and loose with the hints…

Well, I still have three (actually, five) more!

FYI - HED PE is a punk/rap/metal type band. Just to check, I looked up the lyrics to that song to be sure, and here’s why I thought it was a winner for TR2:

“I see your lips moving, but nothing’s coming out
Who can believe a single word that you’re saying
I see your lips moving, but I can’t figure it out.”

It was close enough for TR2 to make me think of that song… so at least I’m not crazy, but I am stumped!

It really is close, I could add more and it would still be close…
but here’s the chorus:

TR2 continued:

What is the purpose of measurable units of conversation if they register on the auditory cortex of no person currently?
What is the purpose of measurable units of conversation if they register on the auditory cortex of no person?
Utterances are completely pointless.

Maybe I was the only one listening to KROQ in the '80s after all.

Since all my previous ones have been answered – nice work! – it’s time for a few more (easy ones, I think)…

LotV3: However, should you choose to keep graphical representations of the most Red people’s leader in your possession when you travel, your attempts to seduce shall be rebuffed.

LotV4: That person of the female gender exists only as a young woman asserting that yours truly is the person bearing responsibility.

LotV5: Thus, the earth rotates repeatedly, accompanied by the totality of thine knowledge. Those persons proclaim that our planet’s encircling blanket of air at its greatest altitude is visible in a manner similar in tonal qualities to a Western Hemisphere sea.

Oh!!! :smack: “Words”…but I have no clue who it’s by :frowning:

LotV3 is the Beatles’ Revolution.

I think most of mine were guessed. Here’re some new ones:

OS7: All persons present find disgust with all other persons present for their respective actions up to this point. Because of this, it is preferable for us to keep our current situation’s decibel level at nil, as opposed to more than nil. I am consumed with regret for my past actions, yet am uncertain as to how I should set about initiating the process by which things will return to their previously satisfactory state.

OS8: I derive enjoyment from receiving sexual stimulation when it is pleasure infused with masochism. Organized sounds and silences are my personal version of air travel.

OS9: A member of the fairer sex is able to render me unconscious particularly because of her inexpensive optic receiver saviors.

Missing Persons… Good job Lily of the Valley. And great job on Revolution, I heard that song twice in the past 2 days and I didn’t get it.

And OK, here’s the chorus to TR3, tweaked maybe a tad, either this gives it away or the song is just too weird:

There is no diagnosis of mental illness, in fact the individual who indicates the need for such is yourself, yet I have been placed in a secure living facility.

Lookin Out my Back Door - Creedence

ZZ Top - Cheap Sunglasses

Right, and right. Welcome to the Boards, Adam321.
