Interested in a slightly used Star Destroyer?

Well, it’s a Star Destroyer. Good against stars. Has some trouble with planets.

In retrospect they shouldn’t have had the recruiting station for pilots at the Mos Eisle Space Port.

Hey, it went through two stars getting there, but the damn planet wasn’t in the weapons spec. You need one of Doc Smith Industries Planet Busters to remove unsightly Tattooines.

The problem was, after Vader’s surprise inspection last week, there weren’t any survivors left who knew how to pilot it.

That was the business Luke’s Uncle Owen was in on Tatooine: harvesting moisture from the atmosphere. Remember “In the morning, I want them on the south ridge working on those condensers”? That’s what Owen was talking about. On a desert planet, water is at a premium.

This was in ADF’s novelization of Star Wars in '77; unfortunately, those scenes were cut from the movie.

[comic book Guy] Hyperdrive. There’s no greater nerd-sin then getting your Star Treks mixed in with your Star Wars [/comic book guy]

It’s fun watching guys debate fictional science.

I never saw Luke’s uncle driving a tractor or harvesting crops-the little house was surrounded by barren desert-or did he just bottle the moisture and sell it (in Mos Eisley)?Come to think of it, the family farm looked more like a prison . No wonder Luke wanted to leave.
Tatooine looks like a bad planet to colonize-what made it worth anything to the Empire? Of course, we have people who want to colonize mars-go figure.
