interferon treatment for Hepatitis C

Johanna,

This sounds really, really bad.

Doctors do NOT know every freaking thing. And test do not always show results right away.

For example on the evening of Sept. 10 I started having chest pains, they got worse as the night wore on. On the morning of the 11th I went to the hospital and told them I thought I was having a heart attack, after spending the day and much of the night there they said nope, not a heart attack, sketal and muscle pain.
They sent me home with Motrin and flexaril the bastids.

After being in worsening pain all day and night on the 12th I took my unhappy and hurting chest back to the hospital and told them I was dying. More test. I was right. I WAS having a heart attack, a blood clot was bloking the entire bottom of my heart from getting blood. They finsally did an angioplasty and put in a stet. I could have freaking DIED at home !

Talk to the GI doc, see about stopping for a while and seeing if your symptoms improve. If they do you may want to look into some of the natural treatment options like wheat grass ect. There are people who do feel better using it.
This disease acts slowly, you may have to wait for the new improved treatment.

As ** Qadgop the Mercotan ** said * "But you illustrate exactly why I tell my patients that treatment is not for everyone, and for many people it can be worse than the disease.

So many of my patients come into prison with their diagnoses of Hep C, then demand they be treated. I have to tell them that many people can do fine for decades or longer with the Hep C virus in their system, and we’ll only treat them if it appears that they’re not doing so fine anymore (chronically elevated ALT levels over 75, evidence of scarring on liver biopsy for the type I folks), and if they’re cleared by psychiatry and are healthy enough to survive the treatment." *

This stuff is nothing to play around with, and yes interferon has been used to treat some cancers.

OMG, Ayesha, I’m so glad you’re still with us. You’ve been such a great support to me. I’ve thought about you all these years as I dealt with my Hep. You go girl, being a strong assertive woman saved your life! Quite a lesson to be learned there. I hope I’ve brought my daughters up to be like you.

I really had planned to go entirely the natural route. I’d been eating organic for years and keeping crap out of my system as much as possible, using herbs instead of pharmaceuticals whenever possible. My wife’s theory is that this left me more vulnerable to heavy-duty medication, unlike most Americans who don’t eat so healthy and are desensitized to drugs. I had no infection, no sepsis, unless it was in this bad tooth, but tests didn’t find anything and as for my sudden anemia, hemoccult was negative. The internist wondered if it was hemolysis, but had no indication of that.

My liver kicked out huge amounts of fresh bile Monday morning, which caused massive elimination in both directions. I think my liver detected a hostile substance (interferon) and tried to flush it out with accelerated bile production. I may feel worse than shit, but at least it’s proof that my liver is still alive and kicking.
