Fran, May 18 and 19th looks good for me. Still too early to know for sure if I can make this, but I’ve been wanting to do an overseas DopeFest for that last year, and have been very jealous of those Merkuns who’ve been able to attend the previous ones.
The 18th and 19th of May could be good – it’s my birthday weekend, so depending on what else I’ve got planned I might be around.
Agreed and counting the days. I can book tickets within the next month or so.
Here’s a tip for bargain hunters. The single best way to fly to England is via Iceland Air. If IA services your city and you don’t mind a brief layover in Reykjavik, you can fly anywhere in Europe at ridiculous prices. It costs about $200 to fly from New York to Heathrow. Perhaps even cheaper if you fly off times and midweek.
Well, I’ll be in the UK for two weeks. Weekend in London, maybe a Monday train to Exeter. Whatever.

That weekend in May sounds good to me as well. CRUSOE, we can celebrate our birthdays together, since mine is the 20th. Ah, England for my birthday . . . I can definitely do that.

IF I could come in May, there’s no way I could do it over a short weekend like the 18th & 19th. It takes too long to fly there and back and I’d end up staying only 1 day, and that just doesn’t make any sense at all.
The following weekend, however, is the U.S. Memorial Day holiday weekend and businesses are closed on Monday the 27th. That would at least give me a 3-day weekend to work with, which would make a whole lot more sense.
How does anyone feel about moving it forward a week?
And for those concerned about airfares being higher over the holiday weekend - according to travelocity, it’s the exact same fare from 5/24 - 5/27 as it is from 5/17 - 5/19, and it gives you an extra day (for those of us who can only come for the weekend).

Memorial Day weekend also works for me. I’ll be taking a week off (and a weekend at either end), so it doesn’t matter to me which week it is, though MD weekend would mean I had to take one less day off of work. But for me it’s six of one, half a dozen etc.
Oh, and I would be happy to go halfsies (or thirdsies) on a hotel room for the night of (or nights around) if anyone is interested in splitting lodging costs.
Memorial Day weekend’s ok with me as well.
And on my budget, I am definitely up for a room share. I am a little too crotchety to sleep on someone’s floor, but way too poor to stay in a real hotel.

Why, we… get drunk. And then we taunt the furriners. Sometimes we show them places of culture. Then we drink some more. Sound good?
