Me and Washte (Who would increase the international presence) would have loved to come, but can’t easily get down to London that date.
If anyone wants to get their arses up to the East Midlands later in the year though, we’d love to see you.

Coldy
I just sold my Honda CB750, which bought me a garage, a Reliant Rialto, and a much older bike, a Honda CB350S which I am now fettling to get into less wobbly condition.Once the brakes and suspension are sorted out I’ll be back to swerving around the countryside.
I will get myself something much larger and faster, probably next year, I’m looking at that Honda STX 1300 with all the gadgets but lets see how it handles, and possibly a CBR400 for crazy lean angle, high corner speed fun.
Meantime, it’s a real pain getting piss wet through every day, twice a day for 4 months of the year, freezing my bits off and not being able to carry stuff, hence the 3-wheeler.
I so can’t afford this, but, I’ll try
Hi Francesca. The SC is about as ideal as we can get in terms of capacity. Not only is it fairly vast, but if we do need overspill, it’s right opposite yet another equally vast pub called the Lord Moon or something.
Also, the SC would be happy to designate a particular area just for us. They have a nice downstairs corner which they call Area 14 (sounds like something out of a Roswell conspiracy, don’t it?) with its own bar which we can book if we want.
And lastly, it’s not as prone to heaving over-population as some city pubs. Whitehall doesn’t quite get the worst of it, given the absence of nightclubs etc. around that part of town.
Yes
Since I’m actually in London and, I suspect, am nearer to this proposed scene of carnage and mayhem than anyone else here, I dare say I could make it without too much trouble.
Someone responsible has to be there to keep you all in line.
Did somebody mention Real Ale? Count me in!
After conferring with my “better half” last night, it seems that provided these conditions are met, I can go.*
Someone promises to make sure I don’t go to dangerous areas alone and act like an idiot. (His worry - Hong Kong trip to be explained at Int’l Dope to those who are interested)
The place I stay is either free, very inexpensive since we’ll be plonking down a lot for me to get there in the first place.
He does not have an experiment on the sincotron (cyncotron? Sp?) that weekend.
Yay!
Reading back over the thread, I’m just confirming that we are talking about the 25th and 26th of May?
If anyone has any good ideas for cheap airfares from Paris on smaller airlines, could you please let me know?
This is going to be my Mother’s Day present! Yay!
Great stuff, Anahita. Tell your hubby there’ll be several fine responsible Irishmen there to make sure you are safe.
Inexpensive accommodation in London might be a problem though.
I have a shortlist of available inexpensive (£40-60/night)accomodation that I can email to Annie.
Right now though, it’s dinner time, so give me an hour or two, OK
Aw hell, I forgot that’s the weekend of the Celtic Festival in Dundalk. So that rules me out. Have a great time, everyone.
May I recommend www.activehotels.com/search.index.php? and www.hotel-london.com ?
You can search by area and by availability. You can view photos of most of the hotels. This is good for me, because I don’t like to sleep anywhere minging if I can help it.
OOPS! Sorry!
The second link should be www.hotels-london.co.uk
I am attempting to multitask above and beyond my capacity.
(a mod could fix the link if they liked)
Does anyone have a tentative schedule of events for this thing? If I were to be able to come, it’d only be for one of the days (since it’s right in the thick of exams), and perhaps only part of one at that.

Peep, I think we are relying on the Londopers to plan this, but I suspect it shall be something similar to
meet, drink, debauch, sleep (optional)
lather, rinse, repeat.
Does anyone want to share a room with me?
TansuI’d appreciate your list of recommended hotels, since just booking one at random makes John nervous. He’s convinced I’ll end up staying in a drug-infested warzone where everyone’s primary goal in life is to harm me. Hehe. He’s kind of worried, because of the Hong Kong incident of 2000.
Central London is actually quite safe (apart from the odd rowdy drunk, but you get them anywhere in the world). If you’re concerned we can always put you in a taxi to the hotel, but I doubt anyone will be staying too far away.
I found a place in Notting Hill that is 58Sterling for a double.
I’ve seen the Hugh Grant (yum), Julia Roberts (ugh) movie, and I always believe everything I see in movies, so that’s why I picked a place in Notting Hill. Is Notting Hill nearby things that I’d like to see?
I’ve actually never been there, but it’s quite a nice area from what I’ve heard.
