International Londope 2002

Yes, it’s this year. Hence the “2002” bit in the thread title  (This thread was started last year)

Crusoe and anyone else who wants to hang out during the day on saturday - how about we meet under the giant clock at Waterloo Station at 1pm? Then we can grab a spot of lunch and decide what we want to do for the afternoon.

Waterloo at 1:00 works for me.

Should be okay with me.

Hey, Francesca, the pub is called The Silver Cross.

Cross, not Moon.

Do y’all know how many Dopefests I’ve missed by 1 friggin weekend?

Amsterdam, Denver, Chicago, and now London! I’ll be there the week before for a conference…

DAMN!

Oh well, have fun everyone!

-Tomcat

Hoping to meet you all at some point that weekend, just not quite sure how things will pan out at my end. I’ll just keep abreast of developments by watching this thread.

BTW, I think that’s the weekend before the World Cup kicks orf so the pubs my still be quite sensible.

Cheers !

Oi, matey! Do you ever check your e-mail these days, or what?

Just catching up, dude. For what it’s worth you were laying between ‘miracle weight loss pills’ and ‘tight teen pussy’ – I take it nothing much has changed in my absence…

Cheers !

Quick Question:

Anyone have an opinion about changing money (Euros to Sterling)? Best done at the airport, at a bank in town, money changers?

Thanks.

Just use an ATM. I never bother changing cash at airports anymore, since the exchange rates at ATMs are usually fairly decent.

OK! That’s just what I’ll do then. Thanks for the advice, Crusoe.

Oh dear God, I hope not – I had to bleach my eyeballs after seeing the last one on TV. It was not a pretty sight. Plus he’s probably dyed his pubes purple now to match his beard. Eurgh.

I’m still on the maybe list, but as nothing yet has arrived to futz up my schedule for that weekend (as it so often does at the last minute these days), I remain optimistic.

Exchange rates are fine, but the fixed charges for using this facility are arbitrarily large. If you do decide to use this method, make sure you get all the money you need at the same time.

You will probably find the best deal in a high-street bank.

My plans: I’ll be arriving in Gatwick on Saturday morning and will be at the clock in Waterloo to meet you at 1 o’clock. I will be returning to Dublin on Sunday afternoon.

I’m currently checking out Tansu’s websites for Saturday night’s accommodation. Thanks for the pointers, Tansu!

I think I am now really a “very unlikely”, but I do hope a wild time is had by all, with pictures to prove it!

Have fun, folks. heheheh Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.

Turns out my big methodology paper is due the following week, so it looks like I have to go from “maybe” to “nope.” But do report back with pictures 'n such (well, at least those that are suitable for this PG-13 board). And yeah, don’t do anything Celyn wouldn’t do.

I don’t know what the charges are like for overseas bank card holders, but the big UK banks have pretty much dropped ‘revenge’ charges entirely now (thank God).

I pay for as much as possible by credit card when in forn parts. The exchange rate is generally much better (since that isn’t their intended revenue source from the transaction) and there are no charges.

I hardly take any cash with me these days.

Hmm. Did someone say curry? Did someone say Twisty?

Can anyone say… lime chutney?

hehehe

My oppertunities for revenge are few and far between Kabbes, but rest assured,
