I see now, thanks for the clarification.
I’m not exactly sure why I’d want to answer that question.
If I’ve made ‘travel plans’, that would suggest that I have some reason to travel, which would indicate that I’m not Vanilla. If on the other hand I intend not to travel, or I’ve made no plans at all, that would tend to indicate that I am Vanilla.
Since I am not ready at this point to make any sort of claim, I’d rather keep my future plans, if any, to myself. When I feel it is in the Town’s best interests to know, I’ll make a statement. At the moment, I don’t think there is any advantage to gain by letting everyone know what I may or may not have planned for the future.
well i certainly am not asking whether or not you plan on traveling in the future. my point was merely that it MIGHT be helpful to town to know whether travelers did so on their own volition or were compelled to by some outside force. and i think if we are to believe idle as far as we can throw him (which is about the distance of my arm) but as near as i can tell he was compelled to travel without a decision made on his part. and i agree with the tea sippers (go UT) that travel is not necessarily an indication of alignment but i do think that if folks are compelled to travel that it might provide information. now whether this information helps or hurts town is what i am wrestling with.
and i know if i caught it so did scum, it’s apparant that you traveled on your own decision. for the life of me i can’t figure out why. but that would indicate that there were some Night 0 actions that were allowed.
sheeps at this point i just don’t fracking know.
and sorry burby but it just feels at this point that scum were trying to align assets.
vote burby.
Caught what? He said it was in his PM, so what are you referring to?
neta: at some point it might be intriguing for one group (and i use that term loosely for those heathens in london) to vote to incarcerate someone from the other really rocking group (go kiwis) and then if there was an coercive individual have that person be forced to travel upon their arrival they would then be incarcerated and sent to the tower and forced to watch those huge ass black birds for the rest of the game. or if it went the other way make them swim with those big ass fish that want them as an appetizer and they could stay in an underwater cage for the rest of the game.
sorry normal. the way i read his posts is that he was not compelled to travel. ipso fucto, he did it on his own. now this could open a can of beans.
neta:
ok. idle said he did not travel as a result of any action that he made. burb did you have a choice or was it just tough shit you are heading to the land of lamb.
neta: read 302 closely. and if you still have questions i’d love to engage.
Uh, peek, this isn’t the first time, but I have no idea what you are on about. Please explain your vote on suburban and what you find so suspicious. Also, how are the scum trying to allign their assets?
I just don’t get it.
I’m not ignoring this game.
Well, OK, actually, I am. Hopefully it will only be for a short duration. I am feeling significantly under the weather with a nasty cold and headaches.
This day ends on Friday, I will catch up and contribute by then.
I’ve decided that I’m going to shed what light I can on things because people in both locations are making some incorrect assumptions about the set up that I believe I can clear up, hopefully for the good of the Town.
This was not an easy decision to make but I think the circumstances warrant it, especially considering the way I happen to play. I rarely if ever hang out in forbidden threads of games I’m not playing in. My attention span is short for conversations I’m not participating in nor expected to participate in in real-time. For as long as I stay alive, this will allow me to solicit opinions from the entire field of players about what to do with my power, hopefully providing an opportunity to offset my own short attention span and biases, though I reserve the right to make my own final decision.
Mistaken assumption #1 - Not being able to travel means a player is Vanilla.
Mistaken assumption #2 - All actions from location A only apply to location A.
Mistaken assumption #2a - The only thing worth traveling for is to perform an investigative/tracking/killing/protective action at another location. Traveling to vote may also prove useful.
It is possible that my role is the only role that breaks the above assumptions. It is possible that I’m the only one in the game with this particular role. It is possible that this will backfire and spark more chaotic paranoia than informed sanity on the field of play.
I chose to claim because a) I think the Town will hopefully benefit from this information b) the insight on the setup will be confirmed if I die c) crowd-sourcing opinions of what to do with my votes will prompt discussion and spread some of the risk that I’ll vote in an anti-town manner.

Forgive me if I missed it if you explicitly said it, but was it you that placed that anonymous vote during London’s Day? If so, how did you decide whom to place it on?
Yes that was me, and I meant to claim it in my post. Apologies. I placed my vote on Astral around the middle of the cycle due to the same misread of that I referred to earlier in the thread. And the misread contributed to my decision to claim as I have, because if left to my own devices it is quite possible that I’d misread or miss something again. I left it there even though there was not a tie at the end so that people could see that the mechanic existed, and baffle’s play parsed as more n00b than scum to me, in case things kept tying up at the end.
I should say that there was not a tie at the last time I checked on the London thread before Dusk.
Jesus H…
All references to Astral should be ShadowFacts in my previous posts.
MHaye voted to put Baffle at six votes (thus overtaking the six-vote-including-you ShadowFacts bandwagon due to the mandated timing of your vote) only 13 minutes prior to end of Day, so what you said about leaving it there even though there was not a tie … well actually I’m not sure what your’e saying at all as to what you did when and why. Could you try again?
I’m not getting peeker either, for once. Whatever he sees in Suburban’s post, I’m not seeing it.
woot woot. way to go cookies
i’ll get back to you in the morning.
it will all make sense, i kind of promise you.
or maybe only in my mind. but whatever. ciao for the evenig.
let’s keep talking because that is a good thing.
I wasn’t able to watch the London thread for the last portion of the Day. I fell asleep, as my sleeping cycle is about 12 hours off of normal people on a good day (yet another contributing factor to me wanting to be transparent). The last official vote count that I saw, ShadowFacts was in the lead 5 to 4.
I submitted my vote at 12-11-2010, 04:48 PM (Pacific), but it was contingent upon some clarification about how my vote worked, so that clarification came back at 12-11-2010, 05:34 PM (Pacific) which was when I confirmed my desired vote.
Since my vote is not applied until dusk, I believe that it is not considered in any tie timestamp calculations that arise from votes that do not include mine, per this line in the rules:
But I have will ask for mod clarification and share the answer here, since I’m assuming I will not receive a public answer as it would mod-confirm at least that aspect of my role.
Clarification requested.
If I’m wrong about my assumption, and the timestamp used for my vote is when it is applied at dusk vs when I submit it, then my vote could have functionally saved ShadowFacts from being lynched, but that was not my intention and I will do my best not to have my vote tangled up in ties in the future if at all possible, but there is a limit to how much I’m willing to torture my already tortured sleeping patterns, even for you fine folks.
I believe I just fell into the same rules hole I fell in before roles went out. If ShadowFacts was at 5 votes, he already wouldn’t have been lynched ergo I could not have functionally saved him by voting for him.
Either way, best to just wait for clarification before I try firing up the braincells any more.
