Internet Explorer doesn't work...what the hell?

I need to use Internet Explorer to download Microsoft Updates. Unfortunately, in the latest in a long line of ridiculously frustrating computer problems, Internet Explorer won’t connect to any websites. The browser opens but when I enter in an address it doesn’t load the page and just gives me a white screen.

What is the matter here?

Maybe this is obvious, but just in case - have you made sure your internet connection is active and it’s just the browser?

Click on the **Start ** button, click Run, type **CMD ** and click OK. In the new window, type **PING ** GOOGLE.COM then hit Enter. Do you get any replies?
