I am using IE 5.0 and had never noticed this: right click on a picture and you have the options “zoom in” and “zoom out” which I had never used until today. The problem is they do not work correctly.
If I click “zoom in” the picture is enlarged X2 vertically but x4 horizontally the first time I do it which stretches it horizontally. After that I can zoom in or out but the picture remains distorted.
If I click “zoom out” the picture is divided by 2 vertically but by 4 horizontally the first time, stretching it vertically. After that the ratio remains.
Does anyone know why it does this and what the solution might be? Does it do it in your computer too?
I use IE5 and it does the same thing. Must be normal. It does make you wonder why they would put something in there that didn’t work right. Oh wait, it’s Microsoft. :D:D
It’s not a normal picture, it’s a plug-in, like GuanoLad said. Or, it’s not a picture file, it’s a Macromedia Flash file,m or similar. I know they have functions likr that, and IE 5.0 is new enough to have a Flash viewer built in.
Nope, what GuanoLad was saying is that it’s an optional component that you may choose to install when you’re given the IE options that you want to install. It works on normal pictures (bmp, jpg, etc). I have not noticed any problems with it, however.
I know what Sailor’s talking about. I have the same plug-in and the same problem; when you use “Zoom in”, the picture is distorted horizontally. I wonder whether it’s to do with designers not specifying sizes correctly, or using images that don’t match the size specified in the HTML.
I have the zoom feature in IE, and I’ve encountered the same problems. However, some pictures will zoom ok and others won’t. I think it’s due to the HTML coding used to include the image. If either the width or length is specified (but not both), the zoom problem occurs. If neither or both are specified, the zoom works fine.
zgystardst, not in my case. I can open a GIF or JPG directly (no HTML) and it will still do it. It makes you wonder what they’re thinking at MS when they put out stuff with such obvious flaws.
