Internet Explorer help

I just recently got cable internet. It has been working fine. I was on yesterday. After I was done I ran some sort of cookie cache cleaner that is on my computer. I also went to do a windows update, but never actually downloaded any of the new updates.
I went to get back online later, and it doesn’t work. The home page does not come up. I noticed that the address is a little bit different…something was deleted from the URL. I tried putting in a different URL that I knew, like “hotmail”, but that didn’t work either. A window pops up every once in a while that says something about not being able to open the search page. Does anyone know what’s going on? I know nothing about computers…
Thanks!

We need to know what OS you are running under, and also what version of IE you use. And it might be helpful if we knew exactly which “cookie cache cleaner” you ran. Did you clear cookies and your cache from IE itself?

I think we need a bit more information. What Operating System are you using and what exactly was the cookie cleaner that you ran.? Have you checked Internet Options in IE to make sure that your connection settings are still correct? If you are using XP it might make sense to use System Restore to revert back to the date when everything was working. Is there a router in your setup? Let us know.

Hey. Thanks for the quick responses! I am at work now so I can not check what I have on my PC at home. However, I will tell you what I know…
I have Windows 98
I think I have IE 5
and the only thing about the Cookie cleaner I can remember is that the icon on the bottom right hand side of the screen is a squeegee.
Sorry I cant be more specific right now.
