Ringo, I think that it is a “what ever year you want it to be club”, in here…LOL
Thanks Mariemarie ,so good to meet you too, I think this a good place to meet great people no matter what their age. Thanks for the welcome dear.
I’m Mirror. I’m 17 years old, and I like reading and music and cats.
Currently I am working as a Junior Counselor at a day camp called Summer Of Service. We take middle schoolers and go and do community service all over Kansas City. It’s a lot of fun, even though I do want to strangle the kids a lot of the time.
I’m going to be a junior in high school next year, and my favorite subjects are Latin, science, English, and art. This will be my fifth year of Latin. We are currently translating Vergil’s Aeneid, which is ok, I guess. I find Aeneas to be kind of annoying.
My school is an underfunded publich school in the ghetto, but we have the best academics in the city. It’s a pretty diverse school, 60% black students, 40% everything else. I love it.
My areas of expertise are Latin, being a teenage girl, and the horrors of all-girls’ Catholic schools (I went to one for a year. It was awful.)
So, yeah, that’s me.

And Og said, “Amen.”
I’m Neurotik. I’m 23 and live in Arlington, work in DC. Right now I just temp around, currently with a labor union’s political department, until I get my call up from the Foreign Service.
I’m a pisces. Originally from Anaheim, CA.
What else am I supposed to say here?
Hey, Ladyrose. Nice to meet you.
I’m 43, blissfully married, one stepson in college, and a 6# Yorkie that we spoil and adore. I love to garden and read and have recently taken up scrapbooking.
I’m happily addicted to the SDMB so I’m sure we’ll meet again.
Hi there LadyRose! I’m Bellestar and I’m still very new around here myself. I am 22 years old and live in North Carolina with my husband, two rescued dogs Sugar and Sadie, and my precious kitties, Koshika and Rocky (or Cornbread as the hubby calls him). I work as an Accounts Payable Specialist at a very large company and will be attending college again in August for my bachelors degree in psychology.
I enjoy reading everything I can get my hands on, from sleazy romance novels, to Harry Potter, to courtroom suspense. On the weekends, you can usually find me volunteering at an equine rescue league and showering love on abused or neglected horses. So, yeah, that’s me in a nutshell.
And for lel and JeffyDMan, thank your lucky stars that it is “a dry heat.” I’ve never been so sick of a phrase as I am of “It’s not the heat, it’s the humidity.”
G’Day, LadyRose, nice to meet you.
Ice Wolf is a 39 year old administrator from Auckland, New Zealand – a born, bred and residing Kiwi. I still marvel that I’m around here after all this time, but I also hang out at the G’Dope Messageboard for Aussies and Kiwis.
As well as paid work, I do voluntary stuff for the community groups I belong to: Lions, a community centre society, festival organisers, and my local historical society, as well as advise other community organisations.
This post would get way too long if I started listing my interests, aside from my mad passion for history. No family as such, but a swag of good friends.
Hey there Ladyrose. Another old fart checking in. I’m pushing fifty, still listen to obscure hippie music, read First World War literature, feed way too many critters and have been married for 30 years this December. I have a daughter, kiddoeaddi, who is 17 and would hate the name kiddoeaddi (but fortunately knows nothing about it). I spend way too much time either here in MPSIMS or in Cafe Society.
Nice to meet you!

Hi, Ladyrose!
I’m Skerri, and I’ve been around the boards for a while. Not many people know me, but I do make the occasional burst of posts when I’m on the computer long enough.
I’m 29, and I live in Baltimore, Maryland. I just moved here 3 months ago to live with my boyfriend, who is a comedian. We are planning to get married next September. Before this, I lived in Charleston, South Carolina. I have 4 sisters and one brother, and two ‘adopted’ little brothers that I took care of while we were growing up.
I love to read, but recently the only thing I’ve made it all the way through is the Harry Potter series. I’ve got 300 pages of book 5 left. I should be done with it tomorrow. I love music; if I had my way I would spend entire paychecks to go see concerts. Right now I can’t spend money on anything, because I have only recently acquired a part time job as a pharmacy tech. I’m broke as a joke.
Currently, I’m addicted to Pepcid AC and sweet tea. The only reason I’m addicted to Pepcid is because I’ve been eating too much junk lately.
Welcome to the boards!
[Catch Me If You Can]
I concur.

However, the crackpot conspiracy theorist side of me says that ladyrose is actually an agent for The Man not Cecil Adams and is just collecting the Mundania of Our Lives™ to Infiltrate and use for the Forces of Evil.
Which I’ve checked my lack of something called A Life ™and really have no moral objections to being used for the Forces of Evil, provided it doesn’t involve me wearing spandex or lycra.
Carry on.
hardygrrl here: I’m 33. Fraud analyst by day, struggling writer by night.
Avid reader (about 3000 books in the library). Hockey player (left wing). Look like a redheaded Tinkerbelle with the attitude to match. The sig sums it up quite well
Cyn, married to** Drachillix** for almost a year, 40, OB/GYN RN with two teen angels, living in CA all my life, reading fantasy and med journals and enjoying wifely bliss— a Doper who cooks.
Nice to meetcha.
Hello. I’m 32, male, and have finished getting my second college degree (mechanical engineering).
Thanks to my amazing skill at planning, I’ve managed to enter the job market during the worst economic slowdown in twenty years… pretty slick, huh?
I’m an avid reader, a weight-lifter, and something of a tool guy. Even though nearly all of my interests are “guy stuff”, all of my friends are women, for some reason.
People tell me that I’m very personable, funny, handsome, and charming (really, they DO!), and I have documentation that proves I’m smart.
On the other hand, I’m introverted, cheap, easily annoyed, not very ambitious, and my own family tells me I don’t have a full set of emotions.
I consider myself basically a kid who’s trapped in a man’s body, and isn’t particularly happy about it. Imagine a somewhat grumpier version of Tom Hanks in “Big”, and you’ll have me.
Ah Ladyrose, you just seem so darn nice. Pleased to meet you!
Hmm, well, I’m a 33 year old female, married, have 5 furry kids - Two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and 3 kitties. I live in Pennsylvania, but I’m originally from New York. I have an interior design business which I adore, although it can get a little hairy at times…I love antiques, art, collecting books, baking, music, I would like to travel more than I do…Oh dear, I’m running out of things. Oh yes, I’m a hopeless insomniac. Which is why I am usually at the SDMB during the vampire hours…I have asthma too by the way. It really is a drag isn’t it?
Anyway…Welcome!
Hiya Ladyrose… welcome to the boards
I’ll be 46 on Wednesday. I’ve been married to my high school sweetie Rico for almost two years.
We live in Los Angeles, CA. I grew up here but never liked it. I prefer a smaller, slower, cooler area so moved away right after high school. Ric has always loved this area.
I got my BS in Psychology and took grad classes in Educational Psychology and Social Work. I wanted to grow up to be a LCSW. I’ve worked a lot of places in a lot of fields, including psych, but am now disabled because I have an autoimmune system virus.
I spend most of my time loafing on the couch with the tv and computer. I am obsessed with doing genealogy. I used to read a ton, but have trouble concentrating for long periods of time now.
If you want to know more about either one of us, or our furbabies, take a look at our homepage.
There are a great bunch of people here! Sure hope you enjoy it as much as I do
Hi Ladyrose, and welcome. I’m a baby-boomer, divorced, mother of a daughter and four sons, retired (burned out) from a career with a great national charity, now work parttime in an upscale boutique. I live with my partner of nearly eight years and our dogs. I like to read, swim, roller blade, re-decorate the house and travel.
I’m pretty new here, too – hope you’ll like us!
Hiya.
I am The MeatBeast. I live in Seattle. I’m mostly Welsh.
In a short 2 months, I will be 1/4 of a century old.
I enjoy studying ancient magical texts (Grimoirium Verum, Grand Grimoire, Lemegeton etc.) Serial Killers (Albert Fish is my fav) and watching B-rate horror movies.
I also watch The History channel, TLC and the Travel Channel like a good little addict.
I have aspirations to become a CSI, but for now, I’m settling with being a bartender.
I think Johnny Depp is the greatest man to ever live, with the exceptions of Leif Erikson, Thomas Beckett and Dr. Seuss.
I like my steak rare, my beer just below room temperature, mayo on my fries and my tobacco from R.J. Reynolds. I also have a penchant for Kenneth cole clothing and Slayer shirts.
Thank you for your time,
The MeatBeast
