Welcome to the boards.

I am misstee. I am 25. I live in Iowa with my three kids (Kyle 7, Kelli 6, and Emily 3) and my husband of 8 years. I have two step daughters (Bridget 13 and Ashley 11) who come over every other weekend, and sometimes a little more frequently. It seems like I work a lot, and spend little time doing the things I enjoy. Those things would be reading, ebaying, making baby blankets, cooking, shopping, talking on the phone, listening to music, watching movies, and sleeping.

I like to travel, I love to load up the kiddies and go to zoos, museums and other educational spots.

My friend withaK introduced me to the boards a while ago. I lurked for a bit and got hooked. I am looking forward to going to my second dopefest in Kansas City on July 27th.

I am 27 year old male. I have been a middle school math teacher for 4 years now, and I love it. I also have coached track for 4 years. I am a teacher who coaches though, not a coach who is a teacher. I reside in Central Ohio, not subject to dry heat. I did live in Birmingham, AL for about 6 years.

I play the bass, guitar, and drums. Bass is my main instrument, and I have played in a couple of non-successful bands. I also play in my church band which really rocks. I love music.

I have been married for seven years! I have a 4 year old son, and a two year old daughter. Both of thier names start with “Z”, which is just too cool.

For fun, I hang out with my friends, get into some athletic contests whenever possible, jam sessions whenever possible, going to see local bands, eating ice cream is an addiction for me, and I like to memorize stuff. I have to be doing something all of the time, which is how I ended up on the SDMB.

Which is a given, based on your username. I was listening to the Incredible String Band one day and realized there was a very real possibility that, out of six-plus billion people on this planet, I was the only one listening to them at that moment.

Another aging hippy here. Suburbanite, 49, married since '76, three kids, two dogs, and two birds. Love history of all sorts and old computers. Degreed in Anthropology/Archeology but working as a drafter. Now that the kids are mostly grown I’m threatening to become the writer I wanted to be thirty years ago but can’t decide between fiction, essays, plays, or the song that was going through my head the other morning. Classic Gemini who doesn’t believe in astrology. Been here three years but took a year off because I was spending too much work time here, like I am right now. And if BBW means Big Beautiful Woman does that make me a BHM (Big Handsome Man)?

Late thirties. Married, one child, living in south central Texas. Former salesman, former social worker, currently teaching, and writing on the side; attempting to get published, and self-publishing in the meantime.

39 in a few weeks, married for 16 years, 2 kids 9 (boy) and 12 (girl). 3 cats too. Live in Baltimore, work in DC for a non profit org. Interests include cooking, computer networking, history, RPGs, learning guitar, reading, frisbee golf and science. Too many interests, never enough time. I volunteer with scouting. Grew up in upstate NY, and still love hiking in the mountains. Wishe we had some here! Most people who know me consider me to be a geek. Who am I to argue?

I’m Superdude. I’m a thirty year old stand-up comedian currently living in the Louisville, Ky area. And hating it. I’m looking to move to Chicago sometime this year. I’ve resigned myself to the fact that I’ll have to take a day job when I get there.

I’m single, never married, no kids. I have a cat.

I’m a voracious reader, and I love travelling every chance I get.

I am 42 almost 43 newly married to Lordjim and a mother of 3 boys. I have tons of step children but I will only elaborate on my blood children because I am not sure where all the steps are. My oldest son is 20 and is in the Army. He is an interpreter/interrogator and speaks Hangul. He is currently stationed in Korea. My next son is 19 and in the Marines. He is going to be a jet mechanic and is somewhere learning that trade now. My youngest son is 5 and lives with me in Phoenix. I am a buyer for a company that builds cleanrooms for the semiconductor and pharmaceutical industries and we make the products that make them clean as well. I lived in the Dallas area until last fall when my company moved me to Phoenix. Since Lordjim lives in the Dallas area, I am trying to get back there as fast as I can. I have 2 dogs, Merlin the mutt and Kurlee the Pug. Merlin is a 80lb. golden retriever, collie/shepherd mix. Kurlee is AKC registered Pug. I also have a cat that is 12 years old. She is a Siamese and is cranky and runs the house. All pets shed on command.

I am new to the board also but would like to welcome you. I would encourage you to go to the dopefests and etc. Getting out and meeting new people is always a good idea.

I live in the Great White North (Canada), near Winnipeg, Manitoba and love the winters here. There’s nothing like -30C that just takes your breath away when you walk outside first thing in the morning. I have also found that I am in the very small minority when it comes to my opinion on Winnipeg winters :slight_smile:

I married who was, and remains, my high school sweetheart 7 years ago after dating for 4 years. We have a very mischievious and active 2 year old boy and an angelic 7 week old girl (I’m hoping that lasts till she’s at least 12). Money is tight so we spend most of our time talking and taking care of kids. We go to the in-laws cabin frequently. If you can keep a secret, my daughter was conceived somewhere in the main living area of the cabin :smiley:

I will play any strategy game and am always looking to learn something…anything. I started reading encyclopedias when I was 9 and, due to some trick of genetics that gave me a photographic memory, I retain a lot more than I should which tends to get me picked early when we play trivia games.
I am someone who gets a drug induced low when I eat gluten, or foods where gluten is present. There are many days I don’t remember after a night out to a pizza place.

I am a guy who gave up on his hockey career a little early but, when I look at my wife and kids, it doesn’t seem like such a bad decision. I am desparately waiting for the season to start. I was injured almost 2 years ago and have completed my rehab. I’m a goalie and am looking forward to facing rubber discs at 90+ mph (I still play a high enough calibre that I face these).
lastly, I am waiting to here of a Dopefest in Winnipeg, or somewhere close.

I haven’t been here too long, either.
Mr. Lurker and I have been togeather for a little over 15 years (we’ve been togeather since our first date), and our “familly members” are 3 cats (Gimpy, Two Tone, Artie) and two dogs (Abby and our dear little Harold, we adopted him from the vet a couple of months ago…what did we do BEFORE then???). We do voices for them all.
I love to write, and it really doesn’t matter if no one reads it or cares about it but me. I like to read also, but don’t have too much time to do that. (But I find time to come here-what gives?).
We live withing walking distance from the “real” Whistlestop Cafe that Fanny Flagg made famous for a short time in her novel.
Mr. L is a karate instructor, and I work in a womens clothing store.
I also enjoy solitude and wouldn’t mind living on a desert island, as long as there were decent eats.
I trust my gut instincts-they are always right and when I doubt myself I regret it.
It’s a lovely night, I think I’ll go sit on the back porch and listen to the bugs.

OK, I’m in… I’m Jess (despite my login, my last name is not ondair – I mean to spell it JessOnDAir but left out the caps – doh!)

I’m a 31-year-old DJ, albeit an unemployed one, thanks to the great corporate radio moguls who figured out how to replace us with computers and have been doing so ever since. Actually, I’m unemployed because the station I was working for ran out of money so they decided to stop giving any to me… fair enough. I still keep my hand in the business, though, while I wait patiently for a new station to go on the air and provide me with a new paycheck… God, make them hurry UP! I write radio commercials and fill in on the air whenever someone lucky enough to not have been replaced by a computer wants to go on vacation or take a sick day.

I grew up in Ithaca, NY, and since then have lived in Rome, NY, Temple, Tyler and Longview, TX and now I’m in Wichita, KS. Bellestar has a cat named Cornbread… well I have a boyfriend name Cornbread! OK, so no, his mom didn’t name him that. But that’s what he’s gone by since I first met him, and it would have been weird to start calling him something else a year and a half later when we started dating. We’ve been together now for 6 years next month, and I’m waiting every so patiently for the ring I just know I’m gonna get someday. Sigh. I’m doing a LOT of waiting these days.

I have two cats, Nala and Bianca. Nala is 9 and has been diabetic since she was a year old. Well, she may have been diabetic before then, but I didn’t know it until she almost died… she wasn’t supposed to make it through that night, or at the latest that week. She’s fine now, gets shots once a day. Bianca is 10 and just as feisty as the day I got her when she was 8 weeks old. She doesn’t get shots.

I love to read, I’m the biggest Stephen King freak ever, but also like Barbara Kingsolver, Sandra Dallas, and just about any book that has actual words in it. I’ll read just about anything. I design websites in my “free time” (ha!) and I love to sing and am currently on a hunt for a band or some other way to get paid to sing.

Lessee, what else? Oh! We just bought a house on 5 acres and I have my first garden ever, and I’m actually growing things, despite my assertion that I only have to walk by plants to kill them.

Okay, I just posted this, but the hamsters ate it. Here goes again.

I’m interface2x, also known as Colin. I’m a month shy of 26 and live in the Chicago area. I grew up in the Quad Cities, but moved to this area to go to college and ended up sticking around. I’m an analyst for the largest newspaper advertising agency in the US. It’s okay, I guess.

I have two half brothers (36 and 32), an adopted sister (29), and a half sister (11). There are no halves in our family. Both of my brothers’ wives will be having baby girls next month - the first of the family. My mother is beside herself.

I like music (depeche mode, vnv nation, mesh, iris, anything box, apoptygma berzerk, assemblage 23, etc.), movies (mostly the same movies that other dopers my age seem to like), television (24, Simpsons, Jeopardy, etc.) and books (I was an English major). Like everyone else in the world, I like spending time with my friends (although I’m unsure whether everyone in the world likes to spend time with my friends, specifically). I like one of my friends a little too much, but she is currently with another of my friends. Life’s a bitch like that. She and I have something weird going on there and I have a feeling it’ll work out eventually.

I’m herwono, a 17 year old girl living in Shanghai, China. I just finished high school a few weeks ago, and I’m now spending my Summer holidays in front of my computer. :smiley:

I’m originally from Sydney, Australia, but I moved to China with my parents when I was 9. I’m moving back to Sydney next month, and I start university in March.

My biggest accomplishment so far is finishing my International Baccalaureate program and graduating from high school. In my free time, I like watching movies and reading. I’m normally over in Cafe Society, so maybe I’ll see you over there.
