Just for fun- invent a vague or obscure handle- maybe one that you wish you could use for while. Explain it for those you don’t get it- use the spoiler function if you are feeling spunky about your choice.
Here is mine:
FoxForceFive
the name of the series (pilot only) that Uma’s character in Pulp Fiction was in.
It’s from a box of… of some stuff I got in Chinatown last year for .99, and it has the worst translations I've ever seen on the box. It says it will sleek sexual organs, recuperate the lungs, stop coughing, treat lung heat, drg dough, and aphonia. Actually, the box says it'll pretty much cure anything. Neat stuff, and for only .99!
Yes, I have tried it. It tastes odd. I still get sick, so obviously I need to use more.
I’ve also thought of Gauzhug, Standing Sideways, and Educationary Relevantness. I have no idea how many people recognise my current user name. It’s fairly obscure, I think.
Homer Hickam’s math teacher the year he won the science fair with Quentin Wilson, Sherman O’Dell and Roy Lee somethingorother. Coalwood is where they had their launch site.
Awesome! That is my all-time favorite episode of that show. I especially like what the main guy calls his right-hand man (I’d use names but I don’t want to give it away).
Spocko!
Here is my own:
Shovelbum
A slightly deragotory term for a wandering field archaeologist, working from job to job, often with no permanent home. Now worn, somewhat, as a badge of pride.
But1*ForMyCountry-- from some US revolutionary (Nathan Hale?) who said “I regret that I have but one life to lose for my country.” I substituted “asterisk” for “life to lose.”
CommonCrankpin-- It’s a Harley Davidson thing.
SendUsYourTires-- from a Firesign Theater spoof of Emma Lazarus’s “The New Collosus” poem about the Statue of Liberty.
RoxannePavement-- also Firesign related. Roxanne was a news caster.
Highland_Park_Hummingbird-- “The call of the HPH” was a joke about the noise made when a Chrysler Corp. car started. The gear-reduction starter had its own song.
I never figured out how to do that “Spoiler” thing.
Blast, beaten to a Firesign reference. I always wanted to be “Don Brouhaha” Brouhaha?
I may be misspelling it.
Umm, not to rain on anyone’s parade but we were warned against overusing the “spoiler” tag and threatened with it being taken away. Or has that since been recinded.
