IOS 7 has been downloading for an hour and ten minutes

Yup. Missing probably a couple dozen apps at minimum. (I had over 200 on my phone. Shush.) I did a full manual backup right before updating, too. I’m wondering if it’s because the updating process crashed out and I had to restore the phone from factory settings, as it was stuck in recovery mode, and then restore from backup. Something probably glitched out along the way.

A few examples of not-uploaded apps - Pocket Casts, the SWTOR authenticator, SparkPeople, ConvertBot, the Red Cross’ first aid app (but their tornado one did upload), a few Spanish-learning apps.

Edit: I know some app makers totally remade new versions of their apps for iOS7 and you have to re-buy it, but I’ve only seen one of those so far.

I don’t like the look at all; too white and sterile. I liked the old look that was darker, which my eyes seem to prefer on screens.

Does anyone know how to download purchased videos to the device now??? Before, I’d go to the video app and download purchased items from iCloud. I don’t see that option now. Instead, it only seems to want me to instant stream. I have a flight tonight and want to load up some tv shows I like. Grrrrrrrr!

If you go to the iTunes store, you should be able to download them from there. They should have a record of what you already purchased.

Can you use the phone while it’s downloading? Or download first and update later? I don’t want to risk losing my phone function for hours.

I used iTunes as well and my elapsed time was about 10 minutes - including a pre-installation backup. I guess my ISP ( Ebonet ) added extra hamsters in anticipation of a heavier load.

Looks pretty good except for the calender ( liked the old one better ) and the compass.

Yes, you can use the phone while it downloads - it only shuts down for a minute or two once it’s done and then restarts.

This is a start, at least… but the other swipes that Snowboarder Bo describes would drive me crazy.

But, honestly, if my first task after the update will be find out how to disable everything new, I’ll be happier skipping the update. I can always do it later if I have some app that requires it.

To be totally honest, I’m starting to feel old and curmudgeonly when it comes to phones and technology. I still miss my old Palm Tungsten E2. Add GPS and WiFi to that, and I’d be a very happy person.

Ugh, I’m not liking the new look.

I’m not going to update my iPhone 4. Most of the new stuff the 4 doesn’t benefit from and the processor is so slow, even though they have gimped a lot of the animations to make up for it, that I think it will slow down the phone too much.

I’m really looking forward to fiddling with 7, though. It looks fantastic, and I like a lot of the changes that are in store. It’s almost certainly time for me to upgrade my phone, so I will just experience it on hardware that will better be able to handle it.

I like 7, mind you I’ve been using it since Beta4 so I’ve had time to get used to it. I haven’t seen any slow downs on my 4s since moving from 6 to 7.

The folder surrounds will adjust their color automatically depending on your wallpaper so try a few different pictures if it’s looking too bright.

If only there were pictures on the internet so you could see what it looked like before upgrading…

He’s got the swipes wrong. Swiping up from the bottom right corner gives you the camera ONLY from the locked screen. Swiping from the top anywhere gives you notifications. Swiping from the top corners does nothing special other than get you the notifications. Swiping from the middle of a home screen gives you the search.

It’s full of bugs. Just found Bug 14; FaceTime appears to randomly decide not to connect 95% of the time. I am not the only person with this problem.

I know, right? Why did no one post anything?!

That’s a feature. Most of those people you didn’t want to see anyway.

Heh. This is why I never try to download the new OS/update the very day it is issued; when possible try to avoid version x.0.0 entirely, and never buy the new hardware on the release date. Be it Apple, MS, Corel, Adobe, Toshiba, Acer, Bob’s i-Lectronics Corporation, whatever.

Let y’all be the ones who find the unintended “features”.

Day number 2 with it, and I really like. I disabled anything automatic from happening and the battery life really isn’t bad.

I also switched to a very dark wallpaper, making the icons easier to view.

One glaring glitch is that deleting a video causes the video app to crash, each damn time.

Other than that, I haven’t had any issues.

I just noticed something with calendar.

In Boston, I added a flight tomorrow. I added it as 6:20 pm to 7:30 pm.

I’m in Santiago, Chile now, which is 1 hour ahead of Boston. The calendar now says the flight is 7:20 pm to 8:30 pm. That would be bad if not noticed!

I’m using a third-party calendar, but mine has always done oddball stuff like that with a time not in the current time zone. Did you pick what time zone the flight is for?

Turn time zone support on.
