I’m just surprised how many people on Facebook are so excited about this. They aren’t generally even technophiles. Say what you want about Apple, but they sure know how to get people excited about tech things. I bet Microsoft would kill for this type of play when Windows 8.1 rolls out.
My 4S is still on iOS 5.1.1 and it’s going to stay that way, at least until I’m eligible for a phone upgrade in January. I updated to iOS 6 on my iPad when it came out, hated the Maps app, and never updated the phone. I have yet to regret it.
See, here’s that longing for the old Palm Tungsten rising up again. Remember when important functions used to have buttons? Reprogrammable buttons? With labels on them? Those were the days, man.
dracoi, buttons are the past; the future of computing is the new Apple MacBook Wheel!
Well, I finally took the plunge. It’s certainly… different. No wonder people aren’t used to it at first. I don’t think either design is better, just depends what you’re used to.
The best feature is of course Control Center. My second favorite is setting mobile data for each app. You can also see how much each app uses. Great for saving battery and data, and preventing ads.
I think the headings in the Notification Center are misleading - Today, All and Missed. All isn’t all. Today includes tomorrow. They’re more like Scheduled (calendar, weather, reminders), Notifications (apps and phone) and Missed.
One thing I don’t like is Calendar used to show a list of events for the day. Now it shows events on a timetable, and you have to scroll to see all the events. You might miss very early or late events.
Oh, and I haven’t had a chance to try it, but I hope now when you receive a call, it displays the contact’s picture on the WHOLE screen, not just a tiny thumbnail with your wallpaper occupying the rest of the screen :smack:
This just recently became available on my iPad. I’m waiting on it for now.
Another change: iOS 7 is not working with some third-party Lightning cables. It checks more stringently for the authentication chip or something. On mine, it says this accessory may not work, but it still seems to charge. Oh and the warning seems to only come when I connect the phone to the charger, not to the computer.
