Does the iPod Touch (not iPhone) support a headset with a microphone? If it does, I should be able to use Skype with it, right?
I see there’s a Skype app for the iPod Touch, so the Touch must support mic.-equipped headsets*.
Yes, I know that without the mic. they are ‘headphones’. Just trying to be clear.
If you google for “ipod touch mic”, you’ll find several links like this one, which will lead to microphone headsets like this one.
I have a Macally keyboard for my iMac G3, and a Macally mouse I use with my PowerBook; so that looks like just the ticket.
Thanks.
Be careful though - I’m pretty sure that only the 2nd release of the iPod Touch (the one with the volume control on the side) supports microphones.
I just bought the Ipod Touch a few weeks ago, and it does have the volume control.
Then you’re good. Griffin also makes a cord which adds a microphone to standard headphones. I’ve got it, and have used it to make calls with Skype. I’ve also tried a bluetooth headset, but for some reason it’s only seeing the headphone part, and not the mic. I haven’t figured out if that’s a limitation of the Touch, or if I just paired it the wrong way. If I figure it out, I’ll come back with the answer, if you’re interested.
