IQ Test

While I’m here, I might as well vent. Here’s a couple questions from 20 years ago I still remember:

Pictures of two fans A and B, identical except one has three blades, the other has five. Q: Which will use more power? It didn’t say whether the fan roation speed was held constant, or whether the amount of wind blown was held constant. I’m pretty sure possible choices were A, B, or “both equal”. I don’t believe “not enough information” was one of the choices.

Pick the best synonym for evade:

avoid elude <three other choices I don’t remember>

I know the answer to this one now (I think), but it bugged me then.

It is too clear, and so it is hard to see.

Shouldn’t the answer to the horse–zebra–deer–moose–eland one be horse, as the only commonly domesticated animal?

There is often more than one way to answer questions like these.

emode 122
iq 139
Why the big difference? Am I stupider the longer I take a test?
Iq is trying to sell you something, so I guess making you seem smarter is just a marketing tool.
And I so wanted to be a genius.

Oops, didn’t see Arnold’s response tucked in there.

Really–deer because it’s got four letters! Give me a break and go back to to test-design class. If a bunch of intelligent people can come up with at least two valid alternative answers to your question, it’s back to the drawing board folks.

I scored a 167 on emode and a 133 on iqtest, which makes me think that I probably shouldn’t have sniffed all of that glue in between the 2 tests.

And I don’t plan on keeping this as my sig for long, just until the winning buzz wears off.

Mullinator - you sure it wasn’t the other way around? Nobody’s gotten scores like that on emode.

Well, I got a 138 on the iqtest! Wahooooo!!!
There must have been a mistake, I demand a recount! I’ll take the other one later, when I’ve got more time.

http://www2.iqtest.com/view/iqtest/options/000303/9521137049641 I scored a 161 on the above. I don’t know if the link will work. The one that the psychologist gave me in middle school told me that I had an IQ of 184. I take absolutely no faith in IQ tests as an accurate measure of a persons intelligence. The only thing it really tests is how well you take tests on a particular subject. For the record I have scored as low as 128 and as high as 208 on various IQ tests.

125 on the emode test, 148 on the iqtest. Somehow I’m thinking one’s low, and the other is high. I’m not complaining too loudly, though.

Well, I got a 134. Doesn’t mean a thing.

I still don’t know what an eland is.

Yup, I reversed the 2 tests. I guess this means I am smart, but with no practical abilities. Might as well call me Mr. Vos Savant.

Etymology: Afrikaans, elk, from Dutch, from obsolete German Elend, probably from obsolete Lithuanian ellenis; akin to Old High German elaho elk – more at ELK
Date: 1600
: either of two large African antelopes (Tragelaphus oryx and T. derbianus) bovine in form with short spirally twisted horns in both sexes

ReservoirDog, FYI, the eland is a medium-sized antelope type creature to be found only in parts of Africa. Don’t have the time to research it more for you right now, that’s what I know about them. Think they’re kinda cute, actually.

My bad!! We both posted at the same time, almost anyway. I didn’t see your entry til now, Arnold, but I like yours better!

I scored 127 on the emode test and 156 on the iqtest test.

I’m thinking you’d have to add those together to get my real IQ…wink

i got 140 on the emode test and 170 on the iqtest.

but, while i was taking the tests, my 7 year old son came home from school and dragged in 4 of his little friends. i was distracted… i don’t think either of those scores are accurate

33 - munich has no ‘a’

I got 118 on the first test, and 162 on the second one (iqtest.com)
so what does this mean?

I don’t suffer from insanity…
I enjoy every minute of it!

I got a 129 on the emode test. I’m too tired to take the other one.

Munich is also the only one that isn’t a capital.
