The part that really disturbs me is that someone like mrrealtime believes – without an iota of evidence – that there other dimsensions (the OP says “the other dimensions” just like you or I would say “the other continents”, as an accepted reality that needs no explanation). And apparently, there are “folks” living in them. And apparently, it is possible to steal energy from them. :dubious:
Or is mr only joking and am I the one who is being obtuse? : :smack:
the real problem was that Nick Leeson came from Back Office Settlements, and he was doing his own Back Office work - which is totally out of order.
Oddly I knew a lass who worked in another bank in Singapore as head of Settlements - she left to join Barings - on the Monday after the scandal broke, I got an Email from her - she was back at the first bank.
I stand by my point that Dewe Rogerson would not be involved if they had the faintest whiff that it were a financial fraud
which makes me suspect that they are pulling a publicity stunt
I take your point, but there is a big difference between the two situations
Barings was the Principle
Dewe Rogerson are ‘Agents’
It is closer to a large store, say M&S, selling faulty goods
They could be duped by Steorn, but given that the subject is highly controversial, I would not expect them to risk their reputation (and entire business) for a fee, without doing some hefty research.
You’ll probably come back with an example like the stockbrokers and advisors behind the IPO of Versailles being duped.
At which point, I would reply that this Steorn stuff stinks of a scam, whereas Versailles did not (well I must confess I was suspicious).
What I am trying to say is that Steorn’s claims are outrageous, if they are genuine (and I think it is a PR hoax) then D-R would have got some outside verification before getting involved.
Joking yes. Other dimensions are purely theoretical at this point, and as I understand it can only be proven mathematically. On a recent show about “string” theory, theoretical physicists were proposing something like “11 known dimensions” but I cant comment further. I did work with some folks once that had developed a spacial data compression utility that somehow utilized multidimensional mathematics to greatly increase compression efficiency.
Multidimensional mathematics is just as straightforward as mathematics in a few dimensions. And there are some situations which come up in mathematics, or even in physics or other sciences, which can be described in terms of multiple dimensions. Some dating services advertise that they match people in a dozen dimensions or whatnot, and the Hilbert spaces so important to quantum mechanics are actually infinite-dimensional. The question isn’t whether multiple dimensions can be useful, it’s just how many dimensions there are to the space we live in.
