Go here. I don’t know if this is the sort of thing that would get taken down by the studio, so who knows how long it will be up.
For folks unfamiliar with the story, long before Tony Stark makes his way into the signature red & gold model that has been the standard for decades, he was captured by some hostile forces. Thinking back to his very favorite episode of the A-Team (not really), he fashions a suit of protective armor out of spare parts to save his life and escape his prison.
Friggin, there are going to be helicopters in the movie, and so my squadron is providing them for the movie. Do the flying and such. So of course, I’m not one of the crewmembers who get to do it. By far the biggest dork in the squadron, and they don’t pick me.
I suck at life.
I think I recall reading that Favreau wasn’t able to cram that into the movie along with all the other stuff. Like you are wagering, I seem to recall him saving that for the sequel as well. Having said that, it should be foreshadowed a bit in the first movie, because a dependency — alcohol or otherwise — doesn’t really come out of nowhere, it’s an escalation from minor behavior patterns.
I’m glad you explained. I had read some Iron Man when I was young, but not enough to know that part of the story and when I saw the suit I was disappointed. Now with your explanation I understand.
