Irrational Crushes on Celebrities

I’m usually pretty sedate about celeb crushes…I don’t cut out pictures or watch every movie. I’ll think, “Wow. Yum,” and move on.

But one day, Great Expectations came on PBS. Pip, all grown up, is played by a guy named Ioan Gruffudd (he’s Welsh). I was glued to the TV screen for the whole movie. I recorded parts so I could pause it. The next day, I looked him up, hunted him down (on the Internet…) and collected pictures. I don’t know what it is, but he’s very nummy.

He was also on Horatio Hornblower, if anyone watches that…I’ve never seen it. And he’s the officer on the life boat that goes back in Titanic.

Well, since I saw Ute Lemper in concert last week, she’s got me re-thinking this whole heterosexuality thing . . .

I’m the queen of irrational celebrity crushes. For one, I LOVE Conan O’Brien. Seriously. My dream is to get a half-hour in a room alone with him. I don’t even think I’d try to get naked. I’d just sit around, talk to him, and laugh my ass off. He’s so adorably funny. Oh, and just once, I want him to growl at me.

I also have a major thing for Jerry Cantrell. Half the reason I liked Jerry Maguire was because Cantrell had ONE line in it. It’s a great line, though. In fact, I think I might get a sig again so I can use it. But I’m a sucker for any long-haired man who can sing and play the guitar. I think I might have been a groupie in a past life.

Other celebrities I think are adorable:

Doug Flutie (but who doesn’t?)
Jonny Mosely
Steve Buscemi
Bruce Willis
Chad Pennington (not really a celebrity, but man, is that kid CUTE!)

Yes, I am a freak.

I suppose that I might as well mention my sister, and her irrational crush on Harrison Ford. I mean, he’s a good looking guy and all, but… She’s seen all three parts of the Star Wars Trilogy (not counting the new one), all three Indiana Jones movies, Air Force One, etc. a million times each, but every time I visit her, and we rent videos, she always gets something with the erstwhile Mr. Ford in it. I can’t wait until she gets over it… oh, no, what if she never does? Am I doomed to have every Harrison Ford movie ruined for me?

Irrational crushes:

Lyle Lovett. I first had a crush on Lyle
Lovett after a long road trip in a car with
a radio that didn’t work and only a Lyle
Lovett cassette for entertainment. I fell
in lust with his voice (like the smoothest
cognac) and the songs that he wrote. Imagine
my surprise after finally seeing a photo…
Nevertheless, the crush remains (10 years
later and stronger than ever).

Iwatt,

You can just let the MB itself do the allignment - don’t press the enter key when the little text box runs out of space. Really, your sentece will continue on the next line.

Or it could be that you just wrote a poem of which the rhyme schedule escaped me completely. In that case I’m terribly sorry

Remember the second Alien movie?

Now, Segourney Weaver can strip down to her undies and fight monsters in my basement, any time, but. . .

Remember the colonial marines? Remember Corporal Vasquez?

ooooo.

Now, I’d take Brendan Fraser over a woman, but for female/female crushes, the chick from Chasing Amy was hot. I’d do her. The fact that she was playing a bisexual helps, of course.

neuro, I do not have a crush on him, but Harrison Ford is like the all-time greatest action/adventure guy. His Indiana Jones character set the stage for future action characters.

BTW, I loved the movie The Mummy, but I think that Brendan’s character was modeled after Indy.

As for Klingons, I love Belana from ST - Voyager and those sisters that were always fighting with Worf weren’t too bad either. Jadzia was also hot (not Klingon, but still hot).

Terri Hatcher
Patricia Richardson (she is so sexy)
Kate from Drew Carrey

I guess that is all for now.

OMG Do I have a fantasy about Zorro, a horse and some rope… Not the actor Antonio but the character himself. Might be the mask and his huge sword… who knows but the guy is one hot bucket of lust!!!

Oh mmm… yeah I gotta agree with the Zorro thing.

Just one night with Sean Connery… only one

Opal: The bi girl in Chasing Amy (I believe) was Joey Lauren Adams… oft confused with Renee Zellweger.

She played Pauly Shore’s girlfriend in BioDome, and I think she was in Big Daddy with Adam Sandler, too (not that you’re going to watch anything with Adam Sandler…)

Damn. I know I’ve seen her in other movies, but I can’t think of them.

Chris… If you ever have brain block like that again about a movie, head for http://www.imdb.com, the Internet Movie Database.

It’s a great reference. I used it just this weekend to prove that Tom Sizemore is not the actor who cut the ear off the cop in Reservoir Dogs. Michael Madsen is. Nanny nanny boo boo to my neighbor!!

This is the most perverse crush I have… it defies all logic; physical, mental, political, and yet the fascination remains: William Buckley. Please talk me out of it…BBBRRRRRRRR…

Jesus, I didn’t mean to stop this thread dead! Well ,yeah, it’s pretty horrible… OK, how bout Sting?

Well, elelle, untill I got to your post, I thought I was the sickest puppy here. My most irrational crush ever was my 10 year obsession with Wil Wheaton. Bear in mind that I am only 25 now!

I feel the same way about Matthew Perry…YUM!

Few years ago, I had an ongoing fantasy that I was Trent Reznor’s maid-cooking and cleaning and all. Now I look at him and think he’s way too scrawny.
Had a BIG thing for Prince and Sting when I first got cable-around 1983 when they were both huge. Now it’s mostly Ralph Feinnes and Ewan Macgregor.

I’m gonna show my age here…

Sophia Loren in “Boy on a Dolphin”

Nichelle Nichols in the original “Star Trek” as Uhura.

Raquel Welch in "1,000,000 B.C. (Raquel and dinosaurs… what more could a boy want?)

The original Miss Emma Peel… No, make that the ONLY Miss Emma Peel.

Sheena Easton singing “For Your Eyes Only” apparently in the nude.

Sigourney Weaver in the first two “Alien” flicks.

Karen Allen in “Raiders of the Lost Ark”.

Cameron Diaz, Catherine Zeta Jones, Minnie Driver, Uma Thurman in “Gattaca” (but not “The Avengers”).

Did I leave anyone out? Of course, but I fall in love every day.
