When I first heard that Alien: The Director’s Cut was going to be shown on Halloween, I was very excited (I saw the film when it first came out and it left a lasting impression on my 12-year-old mind). The official website confirms that the movie will be “in theaters this Halloween,” and I’ve made plans to see it with friends on Friday night.
However, according to both my local paper and Fandango.com, the movie is actually going to open in select theaters this Wednesday, October 29. The local paper doesn’t post showtimes for Friday until Friday itself, and Fandango is currently only showing showtimes for the 29th and the 30th as well.
I don’t want to wait until Friday night only to discover the movie is no longer being shown. But at the same time, I don’t want to go Wednesday or Thursday if I can really see it on Halloween as advertised.
I have a sneaking suspicion that “Halloween” means “The Halloween season” and not actually October 31. Does anybody know what the straight dope on this is?
