Is American Idol Going too far with the digs this season?

I really liked her too, and I hope she goes far. I was kind of hoping that Paula would stand up for her and actually said something instead of just hitting Simon for what he said. She, after all, has suffered from an eating disorder. And that girl wasn’t that big. As you said, she was cute!
Simon should have learned by now that America isn’t as interested in his image of a popstar as he is. Season one, they were pretty cookie cutter (though Kelly is normal sized and not overly thin like most pop stars). Second season we had a final three of people who Simon would probably consider the most unlikely popstars: Ruben, Clay, and Kimberley Locke. Fantasia didn’t really fit the mold. Carrie fit in the looks department, but sang country (which Simon has openly said he "doesn’t get.) Bo certainly didn’t fit his ideal. He needs to open his eyes sometimes and realize that America wants someone unique yet relatable.
Okay, so yeah, I agree with you. I’ll get off my soapbox now.

My husband and I were talking about the “fat chick”; we both liked her a lot. I thought Simon was being an ass. Sure, the girl wasn’t Hollywood-ideal skinny, but she had lots of personality and a great voice. And she gets props for doing what so many overweight people can’t or won’t do on this show – playing to her strengths (beautiful skin, lovely features, nice hair) and dressing to flatter her figure instead of wearing a tube top and mini skirt.

I see the Fat Chick getting noticed someday and making it big in the next production of Grease or something.

I can’t watch that show, after I realized that the producers are pointedly picking people to go down in flames as they parade their lack of talent for an audience of millions. That’s just taking advantage of the guileless.
