Is anyone else at work right now?

Morning. It’s 8.30am on a saturday morning and here I am at work. Stupid 24 hour ambulance service. I think people should only get sick between the hours of 9 - 5 Monday - Friday. That would help me a lot. Thanks.

It’s wrong to have to get up for work at 7am on a saturday.

I hear you. I’m not at work now (it’s 12:58 a.m. here), but for many years I was an on-call psychiatric crisis intervention specialist, and I was likely to be working on any given night at around this time.

I left work at 1:45 a.m., about an hour before you posted the OP (same time zone as the Boards clock). I work at the paper and the final edition is ready at about 1:05, so I check everything, wait for any last-ditch rewrites for makeover, etc.

But now I’m at home with my dog, drinking a beer. And I’ve got the next three days off. Hooray!

You’re mean. I only have two days off for christmas. And no christmas bonus since I work for the National Health Service. And the sick people never say thank you. Bah humbug.

AND NOW I’M HUNGRY. Stupid work.

08:37 A.M. here and I am working 6 A.M. to 6 P.M., on an oil rig we run 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, there are no holidays and it never rains, I will work straight through Christmas (x-mas dinner will be served for lunch), I am scheduled to go home on new years day.

It certainly is wrong to be working on a Saturday, yet I and many other dopers are. I’ve been up since 5 and at work since 6:20. The only good thing about Saturday work, if you can say it has a good thing, is that no one bothers you on Saturday. I don’t have a steady stream of phone calls interrupting me from my entries. I don’t have to worry about what I’m wearing, and I don’t have to be looking over my shoulder for my bosses boss (who is utterly evil, my boss on the other hand is cool).

I’m at work today, babysitting the sales staff, getting caught up on paperwork, preparing for inventory, etc.

Meatros is right - it’s nice not to have the phone ringing off the hook or people constantly running into your office, but it’s also a little lonely down here!

I too am at work. I work from 8:30-5:00 this Saturday. Weekdays are tough enough to deal with but listening to people yell and argue with me about why they do not qualify for DSL service is not meant for Saturday’s.

Unfortunately I work in retail, so today is my highest concentration of stupid questions, stupid people, and oh yeah, hungover employees

You know, the only response I have to this is:

eeewww…suck…
I used to work in retail and I feel your pain:(

Being away from my SO also sucks. Lately I’ve felt that I’ve been away more and more. I’ve had a lot of overtime recently, due to the end of the year and as a result I’ve been away from her. In addition, the extra hours have put an increasing stress that has made me slightly more detached than usual, so in a sense, sometimes I’m away from her even when I’m with her.

For example, I know that when I get home today, I will be tired and stressed out (lots of work, yada yada). It will take me about 30 minutes or so to get out of that “detachment”, so that I will, I guess, finally “be home” with her.

Anyone else know what I mean?

At work on a weekend, ayup. Getting more and more common, as we’re a 24/7 department, and coverage has been anorexic due to various factors.

On the upside, I’ve all next week off. I think the last time I had that much time off was when I was still unemployed.

I am.

I work 6 days a week doing technical support for an ISP. Saturdays is my “short” shift: I work 10-3.

Saturdays are a sucking black hole of time. The clock stops moving, I swear to God. Even though it’s busy as hell I feel like I’ve been here for days…

Seeing as being a stay-at-home mom of 3 kids, ages 3-15, is my job, my workday runs 7:30AM to 11:00PM, Monday thru Monday. (Not quite true. . .one morning a week, usually Saturday or Sunday, hubby gets up with the kids and I get to sleep til about 10AM). Can’t really whine about it, though, this is the job I’ve chosen for myself.

Work is optional for me today.

Admirable!

Saturday, 3:12 p.m. MST - I just got back from covering a high school wrestling tournament. Technically, it was an assignment for one of my reporters, but I figure I can cover it just as easily as he and it gives him some time with his family.
