Is anyone else having trouble accessing Facebook right now?

I’ve got main FB up and running now.

Him and his contemporaries like Winsor McCay and Lyonel Feininger were inhumanly masterful.

My Facebook’s back, but yeah, it was gone for a while earlier today, and I suspect it had something to do with last night’s “60 Minutes” report.

I don’t use Instagram or What’s App, so I can’t comment on them.

To be fair, gaining additional bad publicity by having people focus on you being a global utility in need of regulation/breaking up as a means of diverting attention from the recent news that you are a psychotic manipulator of people, organizations, and governments, is not a likely strategy.

Other wags said that the outage was caused because FB needed time to clean out their servers of incriminating evidence, but I’m pretty sure you don’t delete yourself from the internet as a means of cleaning your internet servers… but I’m not techy enough to make that call one way or another.

Based on early post-mortem rumors, it seems that Zuckerberg’s pathological obsession with information control led the company to set up its own versions of communication-and-routing services that everybody else relies on third parties for. In other words, they deliberately created a SPOF. And when it got borked, all the systems that needed to talk to any other system for any reason found themselves alone and nonfunctional on their own little virtual islands.

Cloud flare Has an explanation of what happened. It’s quite a technical write up. You’ve been warned.

Surely if there are Facebook twins, it’s the evil one we were interacting with first.

It could the the “more evil” twin first.

So a goatee rather than the full beard?

With Zuck, it’s about the hair, so more like the transition from Caesar:

Thanks for that info. If the head honchos were smart, they would reconsider that design choice after what happened yesterday, but my guess is they won’t.

Like my place, they had keycards for server controlled doors, and when the switch can’t see the server, you can’t open the damn door.

To me he looks more like Ralph Mouth, or whatever his name was.

A bit of old-ish news by now, but here are a couple of cutesy cartoons I saw:

The persistence of social media:

Michael Ramirez is IMHO an obnoxiously right-wing cartoonist (how the L. A. Times latched onto him when Paul Conrad retired is a mystery to me), but I think he calls this one right:

“Facebook isn’t the problem”
