Is anyone else looking forward to Terminator 3?

From the looks of some of the previews it looks like it could be stupid but I’m still looking forward to this movie. I am a huge fan of the series. While it will be very difficult for any future Terminator to surpass Terminator 2, I am still holding out hope that this one will be as good as the previous ones. I heard that this movie may get a PG-13 rating. I hope this is not true. I don’t see how they can stay true to the series with a toned-down action movie. Is anyone heard what the rating is? Is anyone else looking forward to this movie or is time for the movie franchise to end? I just hope this sequel lives up to its potential.

And that’s the bottom line

I hate to say it, but I’m really not. The trailers looked really lame (the first moreso than the second), and how hard is it to make a cool trailer? You’ve got two hours plus of special effects to splice together any way you want, and it still didn’t make the movie look at all interesting. I can’t believe that says anything good about the finished product.

No. What else could they possibly add? It seems more about milking a franchise than anything actually decent.

However, I will hereby open myself to ridicule when I say that had this come out ten years earlier, I would have been extremely enthused. Of course, I had a huge crush on Edward Furlong at the time. :o

I agree…it looks like a “milker”.

IIRC, James Cameron’s not what one might describe as “involved” with T3. His only credit appears to be for creating the characters. It never seems to be good when a series’ creator/director disappears from that role.

I have good wishes about the quality, but T2 had such a great mix of gravity, stunts, and plot-driven action (plus the then-eyepoping morphing effect), that I bet I’m doomed to disappointment by comparison.

No, I’m not. To me, the Terminator movies were so great because of the work of three people: James Cameron, Linda Hamilton and Arnie - in that order. Now we have a sequal, 12 years too late, strarring what is, if you think about it, an overblown supporting character. What’s the point?

i agree. the trailer was before matrix reloaded when i saw that last week and it didnt look that great. cameron didnt see the point in making another one, so i dont see why anybody else should. T2 was groundbreaking, but the new CGI on the trailer looks worse than the models cameron used in T1, T2 and aliens.
lady terminator robot looks wanky as well

ill still go see it though…

Love the first, love the second, fear the shiteness that appears to be the third.

Not really looking forward to it. The whole emotionless robot deal was thoroughly screwed up in the second movie (T-1000 torturing Sarah Connor to get her to call to John instead of killing her (as it could easily have done) and stealing her voice and appearance, T-1000 shaking its head and finger after Sarah tried to blast it into the molten metal, T-1000 looking angry, and so on). It lapsed a bit in the first movie as well (T-800 saying “wrong” before killing the arms dealer), but in all, that movie held up much better.

I can’t see the third one being anything but more of the same, and now they’re expecting us to take a sexy leatherclad female Terminator seriously. I just can’t see how it could be any good.

It’ll probably be crap… but I’ll still watch it…

And that’s the bottom line, I guess…

They are? I have never taken any of these films seriously. That’s how I manage to like them. Action films are not to be taken seriously: They are just there to look good and blow shit up.

In that vein, I’ll be happy to see it in the theatre if I have the time.

Let me just point out that the movie is inded rated “R”, not PG-13.

I have to admit, the trailer before Matrix: Reloaded did help add a little bit of intrigue to the plot when

They have Arnie’s terminator get taken over by the Terminatrix (oi, that name); it just adds a little more to make it a bit more interesting

and some of the action looks like it could be pretty nifty. But as far as storyline goes? Not expecting much, and I’m already angry with the concept of the Terminatrix. Apparently, she’s supposed to be designed to destroy cybernetic systems, according to one trailer. Now, just out of curiosity, why would a computer system, trying to take over the world and fill it full of cybernetic systems, create another cyborg who’s sole purpose it is to destroy all it has worked for? And the line where Arnie says he’s “an obsolete model” makes me want to cringe, when according to the first Terminator, the T-800 was the pinacle robot designed by Skynet. How’d he get outdated in, what in the storyline, should be two minutes?

Just horrible story rewrites that don’t seem like they’ll bode well.

I thought I remembered reading somewhere a long time ago that “T3: Rise of the Machines” was supposed to be a prequel to the first two movies. I thought this was a much better idea. Sorry I don’t remeber where I read it. I’m pretty sure it was just some movie rumor website, but I know I this is what it said.

I wouldn’t say I’m looking forward to it, but I’m fairly certain I’ll go and see it when it comes out.
I think the movie will really miss the input of Jim Cameron. Subtlety may not be his strong point, but along with Spielberg, he can direct action/SFX better than anyone in the business and that is fundamentally what a terminator movie is.

I am looking forward to it.
I am not looking forward to deep and meaningful, but an Arnie action flick.
Will it live up to the preceding movies? I hope so. But time will tell.

Hell, Yes!

My one gripe with the whole concept of a third movie is basically that it assumes that the “machines” sent three terminators – one right after the other – back in time, and yet each terminator was mysteriously far more advanced than the previous one. However, this is not much of a gripe since it would also apply to the second movie, which totally kicked @ss.

Yes, I wish Cameron were directing this one, but I still think the film will be highly enjoyable.

Barry

I’d like to believe it will be good, but it looks suspiciously like it will go the way of Alien 3 (best left unmade). I’d give this better odd’s than League of extraordinary gentlemen though, I loved the original comic version and don’t think I’ll be able to bear even trying to watch it after seeing the trailers.

No one has mentioned that Kristanna Loken , who plays the Terminatrix, is totally freakin’ hot. And she’s naked in the film. So what’s not to like?
