In August, when I heard about a new Terminator movie being filmed, I was jazzed. Then I went to see the Two Towers, and the trailer looks ridiculous. Arnold just seemed silly.
The Terminatrix looked kinda cool, though.
Don’t misunderstand me, I’m probably going to see it when it comes out, I just expect to be disappointed now.
I would have a more informed opinion on it except I was mesmerized by the display to the right of me in the theater. These two 20-something German (or maybe Austrian?) tourists were absolutely flipping out about it. Bouncing in their seats. Going all ga-ga. It was fascinating.
So they appeared to have been majorly stoked. It looked OK. But then most action films look thesame in trailers. Surely the trailer was nothing spectacular. I expect a better one come Spring.
When the fem-T turned around I expected it to have the face of Sarah Conner.
I didn’t get that trailer at my theater. Not that I remember them all. I do remember Nemo, The Core and Pirates of the Caribbean. Although that last one was more teaser than trailer.
That movie looks awful. Even the image quality stank. I have to admit, that ocean floor of skulls at the beginning got me but I couldn’t care less about the rest.
Thanks.
Not only did Hamilton and Cameron bailed, even the composer bailed. the only thing aside from the FX that was better about the second one than the first Terminator was the music. Now the music won’t sound right. This movie will suck.
Now, maybe I’ve been hibernating for awhile, but haven’t there been an awful lot of sub-par sequels lately?
Don’t get me started on ‘Dumb and Dumberer.’ For your own sake.
They actually made D&D2? I thought that was a hoax years ago!
As for T3 the fact that even though they don’t have good careers at the moment Linda Hamilton and Edward Furlong bailed on it after reading the script tells me everything I need to know.
The only way a third would be cool is if they’d set it all in the Skynet controlled future. Rehashing the plot of T2 and making the T 1000 a woman is just lame. Not that female terminators are rot, just how can you improve on a liquid metal robot?
Besides which didn’t they stop Skynet from happening at the end of the last movie?
Actually, I thought the trailer actually looked rather decent. The Endoskeletons look a bit fresher, and all the shots of the future look pretty cool. As for the rest of it though…yeah, it does look like a complete rehash that rewrites everything from previous movies…but then again, T2 was he same thing and that turned out really well. I’m sure I’ll see it, find it a guilty pleasure, and enjoy my matinee movie.
As for Silentgoldfish’s question about stoping Skynet in the last movie…well, according to the first one, Skynet fell in the future and the Terminator was sent back in time as a “Last ditch effort.” According to the first film, T2 shouldn’t have happened. That’s the wonderful thing about movies…you can rewrite them however you want, and people will still pay to see them. How much they’ll pay this time around, though…?
When you’re dealing with time travel, you can just do whatever the hell you want. Oh, so you stopped Skynet in T2? Well, that just means that T2 didn’t happen, so they couldn’t have really stopped Skynet, right? So then Skynet will happen, and then T2 can happen, so they can stop Skynet. So Skynet won’t happen. It all makes perfect sense…
