A thousand times this. Tell me again how Disney is going to ruin Star Wars.
If there’s ANYTHING that would kill Star Wars, it would definitely be overlicensing. Can you IMAGINE if they authorized dozens of spinoffs about the main characters, their rivals, friends, acquaintances, people they briefly encountered in a cantina, their children, descendants, distant ancestors, and their families celebrating Life Day?
I actually prefer this one. It lacks the Star-Warsified lyrics, but its got this whole ‘Come to the dark side. We throw killer raves!’ thing going.
If anyone can look at that and think Disney is going to somehow cheapen the franchise they are out of their minds.
I believe I have just lost 10 IQ points. No way in hell am I watching that other video. Who wrote those lyrics?
I fear I may never be able to watch Empire again. ![]()
Wow. Feb. 2013 Join Date and yet this is one of the greatest things I’ve read on the SDMB.
Welcome, RealCamz!
2.5?
Not in the least.
Many people view Jedi as the least of the original trilogy and the first step on the path that led to Jar Jar Binks - especially the whole Ewok sequence.
Disney paid beaucoup bucks for the franchise, I would imagine that its shareholders want to see an immediate return on their money or close enough.
As for me , the first star trek movie sucked, but it got its foot in the door. The only thing I see thats going to be missing, its the twentieth century fox opening.
Declan
Yes, he is. I believe he cares enough to do the best job possible, which is key.
I figure it will be a huge mix of good and bad movies, which is fine. It will be nice to get some good stuff out of the franchise.
I think the key word here is “rumors”. So far as I know, nothing has officially been announced yet, or even decided – other than JJ Abrams being attached to a film of some sort. Even if some of the rumours actually have some basis in fact, all it means at this stage is that someone (who?) has suggested it, and that it may be under consideration (by whom?).
Look at it this way: most of the people making important creative decisions about this at Disney are likely to be in their mid-40s to mid-50s. They’re very probably the fans of the first three films that loved them so much they got into the business hoping to make something like that. Odds are, they get it better than Lucas.
I would love, love, LOVE for an adaptation of the story and characters from KOTOR (the first game). Hell, you could probably make a whole trilogy out of that alone.
It’s like Christmas. You know when you got that really awesome toy and you played with it all day for a few days and wouldn’t play with anything else? Then a few weeks later, you still like it a lot and still play with it but not all the time? It’s like that. They"ll calm down a bit but they got a new toy and they want to play with it a lot right now.
I want a Porkins movie.
I want a Rogue Squadron movie, a Droids movie, a Bounty Hunters movie, and a live action Ahsoka Tano movie.
The Star Wars franchise has been defined by money grubbing and declining quality since 1980.
I want a Jar Jar Binks: Rescue Ranger cartoon.
I can’t wait for the part where the main character spends five hours playing Pazaak and rifling though people’s apartments looking for stims.
