I voted today. I’ve always voted early. I’ve never been to my assigned location, which is about 2 miles from my house. The early voting location is about 6 blocks away. I can just drive by when I’m out and check the parking lot. When it looks pretty empty, I stop in. It took me about 15 minutes today.
For the first time, I noticed that my voter’s registration card has my whole legal name and my driver’s license has my middle initial. In Georgia, with the “must match” law, would I have been denied and have to use a provisional ballot? I’m wondering if I should get my driver’s license changed in case Tennessee decides to try this in the future.
I did the early vote thing at the county courthouse a couple of days ago. I even voted for some republicans (local level only) I really hope the proposal to expand Medicaid passes!
Jimmy Carter said in Georgia some small towns let widows vote 2x, once for their dead husband along with their own vote. He got rid of that when he was governor.
Early voted this morning (Montgomery County, TX, which reliably tends to vote 65% Republican so I was probably pissing into the wind, as usual). Subjectively, the line seemed considerably longer than when I early-voted on the last Presidential. Still managed to get in and out within about 30 minutes.
A Republican operative was handing out glossy sample ballots with the Pubbies helpfully pre-marked. There was no corresponding Democratic effort, although the Pubs’ ballot listed all the Dem and Lib candidates as well, so it was easy enough to suss them out.
Just early-voted, about 50 people in line. Voted all D, but didn’t use the straight ticket option. Voted L when there was only R & L on ballet, didn’t vote if only R.
I just got an email saying that there’s a drop box in city hall, which is close to where I work. The City Clerk’s Office is giving out I Voted! stickers when you drop yours in.
Just dropped off my absentee ballot today for WA State. First time ever, voted straight Democratic lines. Had a couple of dem on dem races to dig into.
I finally got around to doing the research on all the amendments and propositions on the ballot and and dropped off my ballot at the 24 hour drop off location near my house.
Put one on the board fro each of the following:
Ed Perlmutter
Jared Polis
Dianne Primavera
Jena Griswold
Dave Young
Phil Weiser
Lesley Smith
Jessie Danielson
Chris Kennedy
Getting an absentee ballot in the mail. It was not as simple to get as it should be. The email address on the application is printed wrong. It took writing to my Congresspeople to figure that out. As far as I can tell, it’s still not been corrected. Way to go, Maryland.
I’ve voted in Presidential elections before, but this is the 1st time I voted in a mid term. Dropped my ballot off last night.
Talked my younger daughter into voting too. She’s been listening to me bitch about Trump for the last 2 years. I’ll be reading some news on my phone and make a comment like, “oh my god, I can’t believe this shit”, and she’ll say, “what have the Republicans done now?”
My older daughter doesn’t live at home, so she hasn’t been listening to me bitch. Haven’t been able to talk her into voting.
But at least that’s 2 more for the Dems.
I went to the courthouse on Friday to get my vehicle tags renewed. They have a cool new check-in now where you enter your cell #, you can see on a monitor where you are in the queue (with approx wait time), and they will text you when you are next in line.
Anyhoo, wait time was about 25 minutes so I strolled across the lobby to the county clerk’s window and took care of my early voting while I was waiting. Two birds with one stone!
My local town hall offers early voting (actually it’s just filling out an absentee ballot in front of the clerk), but today the clerk said she had been so overwhelmed by early voters that she couldn’t get any work done, so she locked the front door and put up a sign that said “appointment only.” When it was pointed out that some people had come to the door and, thinking she was merely out to lunch, planned to come back later, she altered the sign by highlighting the “appointment only” line.
