Is anyone watching Under the Gunn?

I am watching after swearing i wouldn’t, and I find Tim Gunn more energetic and passionate here than he was in the last two seasons of PR. Ishe ready to spank butt or what? lol

And the designers are fun to watch, and to see the mentors squirm, its good.

I’m watching it, but only because I like Tim Gunn. I tune most of it out until the fashion show at the end. The rest of it is too boring for me.
I don’t like Anya and I’m starting to not like Mondo either.

Ha – Anya saying she would never treat her designers that way, after throwing the guy under the bus last week. So glad Isabelle is gone. And the right person won, although I personally preferred the runner-up outfit. The winning one was perfect for the challenge.

Agree on all points.

Glad Isabelle is gone – she was starting to get seriously on my nerves. Bad casting decision (that she was on the show to begin with, not that she made it onto Nick’s team).

Speaking of people getting on my nerves – that would be Nick. As a teacher, you’d think he’d have the best idea of what mentoring means, not the worst.

Yes, he is teaching techniques and practical skills not design and creativity. I assume that’s his strength in the classroom too.

It’ funny, in the last challenge I thought Nick’s designers had the best looks overall, but in this challenge I thought they had the worse. Although as the season goes on, one thing seems consistent. He’s not a very good mentor. Either he’s micromanaging or not mentoring enough. In the beginning when no-one would pick him I felt bad for him, but now after seeing what he’s like I kind of feel relieved.

To be honest, although I agree with the winner and loser, I wasn’t crazy about any of the looks.

And finally, I’ve never heard of Zendaya so I looked her up on Wikipedia. Turns out she’s a Disney star and she even appeared on Dancing With the Stars. I don’t remember her on there, but then, my memory is crap, so that doesn’t mean anything.

It must be her week to blitz the media because she was featured in one of the pics on Fashion Police and I wouldn’t have had a clue who she was except for Thursday’s ep.

Forgot to mention the Spanish guy’s outfit! Between the outfit and the styling, ot was very drag queen. Zendaya was very polite about it.

Isabelle reminded me of people leaving the American Idol Worst Of auditions – I’m a great singer, you haven’t seen the last of me. even if her outfit had been made well, it would have totally missed the mark for the challenge.

Anya, Anya, Anya. She is not very self-aware, is she. She’s done everything she can – sure. I didn’t mind her outfits when she was a designer but they didn’t take as much of the level of detail she needs to mentor other people. And then to basically accuse Nicholas of not having done the work in his portfolio?!

I’m glad Nicholas is gone if only because I confused him and Blake. Now if I could just keep Stephanie and the other white woman with long brown hair straight.

Doing “let the mentor decide who goes home” once was … okay, but kind of a cop-out. Doing it twice is really lame.

Wow – Mondo and Anya show their true colors. What a couple of sore losers. Natalia doesn’t deserve to be there? She’s not my favorite but what has Blake done for us lately? (A Mrs. Brady look – it’s true!) And the woman who went home (I know it’s not Stephanie but the other brown-haired white woman) made a sack with a silly belt. She has been about the same level as Natalia. And at this point, we’re still whittling away to the few real talents. I felt really bad for Nick and at this point I hope he wins.

But…Oscar’s daytime dress? Slits up to there for daytime?! I actually liked Shan’s the best for the customer he described. Natalia’s - meh.

Maybe this is what the judges get for turning decisions over to the mentors – it makes the mentors think they have a say. The judges should just say their decision goes and suck it up. Out of one side of her mouth Anya will say, oh you never know what the judges will decide and out of the other side, protests what they decide?

I generally like Asha’s garments, but that was the ugliest fucking thing I’ve ever seen in my life.

I’m wondering how much of this is drama stirred up by the producers. The surprised look on Tim Gunn’s face at the end looked a little rehearsed.

Heh. While overall Asha should stay over Natalia, that dashiki was right up there with ugliest thing ever. And she can’t blame Natalia since she picked the fabrics and the design.

Natalia was classy about the whole thing.

I don’t get the love for the overall shorts. They looked like something for a five-year-old. There’s youthful and then there’s kids department.

And it’s true – everyone does already have that maxi dress!

That comment was for last week’s garment, which made the model’s boobs look deflated and gave her a pot belly – seriously unflattering.

As was the dashiki. And she was worried that Natalia was going to ruin it?

She should’ve gone home for that, plus for being a bitch. I’m starting to really dislike her.

Final three: Oscar, Sam, and … Shan?

Oh I know – the dashiki was just the next in the series! Thanks for the link – I was trying to remember the outfit after your comment.

Yes, I was rooting for Asha at first because she seemed professional like she was going to stay out of the drama. I guess they had to turn the tables on us!

I agree with your final three – Sam bores me but they like his streamlined style. Oscar’s style is over the top for me but he’s talented and is a sweetheart.

wth was that dashiki thing??? ummmm that had to be the worst thing ever. I used to make better things for my barbie’s with toilet paper and rubber bands.

March 27

My brief opinions.

Top

Shan - Seemed safe to me, but compared to the others the best.

Sam - Safe.

Oscar - Nice, but bordering on costume-y. Made me think of the fairies on “Once Upon a Time”. And how is the dress for a 45 year old? I completely disagree.

Bottom

Asha - Bad color, bad design.

Blake - I absolutely hate those colors. It looks like someone took a bunch of paint and splashed them on the dress.

Holy shit, is this really what they have to choose from? Asha’s client lost 50 pounds and wants a fun/hot party dress and instead gets a burlap sack with restraints on it? It’s shimmering baby poo. If Asha had just picked Shan’s sequinny fabric (what are the chances her client would have been allergic). Or pick red or a jewel tone appropriate for someone who wants to be the center of attention on a special day. I appreciate a nice bronze but not for this dress.

Sam: “We know you’re more creative than this”?? What gives them that idea – his work has all been very simple and plain. But not this unattractive.

Blake: A relief he is finally gone. He referred to strong work at the beginning but I don’t remember any. Ugly fabric, ugly frayed edges.

I respect that Shan pulled something together but he is known for really fast work. It looked like what it was – a few yards of a great fabric wrapped around her and trailing down the back.

I think Oscar should have won because he gave his client exactly what she wanted and he made it really well.

Apparently you and I are the only two people in the country watching this, gigi. (Oops, three, sorry Nobody.) Damn my stubbornness.

Seriously? Asha was in contention for the win? Another one of her badly fitted, unflattering dresses, though I didn’t hate the fabric as much as you did. Oscar’s gown was, as always, stunning – and I don’t think it looked too old for her. She looked tall and elegant, which, given her stature, was impressive.

Zac Rosen may be no Michael Kors, but this judging is absolutely the worst.

I watch but never have much to say because y’all say it so well.

I’ll add something anyway, I thought Asha should have gone home 3 episodes ago. Then I thought she should have gone home 2 episodes ago. She didn’t belong in the top the last episode. Oscar should have won but Shan wasn’t a bad choice either. Blake deserved to go home, that dress was ugly.

I’ve gotten to the point of only watching the beginning to see what the challenge is, and then the end to watch the runway and hear the critique. All the drama in the middle is annoying.
