Is diversity a good thing?

The violence in the cited article is a good example of a hate crime – you know, that evil idea that blacks and gays have that one should prosecute for actions taken against someone because of what arbitrary classification he belongs to.

And how in the name of Beelzebub’s bloody bumbershoot do you get a question about whether “diversity” is good or not out of that article?

Sorry I think I should have been more careful of how I worded my post. I had just read the article and since I have family in Great Britain my emotions were running quite high. What I should have been asking was if anyone could have cheered my up. Of course I believe in diversity but it’s disheartening to read stories like this.

The place for debates is GD. You tell us your position and I’ll be happy to support it or debate it, as the case may be. But reading the news the only comment I can think of is “That’s wrong”.
