You folks must be sippin somethin.
But what if we’re on our second bottle of champagne and we’re still coming across with rational, reasoned discourse and sparklin’ manners… shouldn’t we get some special acknowledgement for that… or maybe some candy?
I know… you could change our designation from “Charter Member” to “Old Charter Member”.
You’re a perfectly fellow too, m’old muckspreader. We’re ALL perfectly fellows!
What you looking at?
See, that’s where he got his username from… he Otto not do that.
That pun was so bad… I know a club in MPSIMS that might want to take a look at

By far my favorite one liner from this board.
Wasn’t it demos (or some variant user name - it’s been a while now) who posted while drunk using the “n” word?
I once posted a drunken thread, and it was closed in fairly short order, with the rationale that drunk posting was not allowed, so at least as of about this time last year threads could be shut down if the OP was drunk. Can we consider the rule officially changed (i.e. that drunk posting is not outright disallowed)?
P.S. I am in fact drunk at this moment.
With drunk driving, society has moved to a strict standard–if your BAC is above a certain point and for some reason you get tested, you’re guilty, whether or not you’re weaving all over the place. (Although I’m pretty sure in most places the converse is not true–you can still be busted if you’re actually demonstrably impaired, regardless of the quantitative concentration of alcohol in your blood.)
But drunk driving involves piloting a multi-thousands-of-pounds moving object through public places, so things are necessarily stricter than message board moderation. I would say on a message board, we’re going to go more by a qualitative “are you weaving all over the place?” standard. If you can knock back a fifth of bourbon and post coherently and without insulting people or breaking any other rules, more power to you. (Though you’re probably doing your liver no good.) And on the other hand, if someone posts a pure nonsense thread while stone sober, it will likely be locked–there are things too mundane and pointless even for MPSIMS.
In which case, of course, the reason given for the lock-down should be, “this thread isn’t worth the space it’s taking up.”
