Is everyone the same size as me?

I won’t turn this into a big rant about how much I hate shopping. But I went shopping for casual pants (Dockers) the other day, and was a little surprised (and frustrated) when so many of the pants seemed to be out of stock in my size (36"x34"). I’m 6’3" and 200#, and tho I don’t exactly keep track, it doesn’t seem like all that many guys are exactly the same size as me.

I figured this had to be one of those situations where evryone perceives this to be the case - stores always seem to be out of your size, no matter what size you are. Is this the case? Or is the world truly predominately populated by 6’3" 200# guys?

Since you know your brand and know your size, you might be better off shopping on line. I’ve found that the on-line stores carry a lot of sizes that the local stores don’t. YMMV.

Well, I’m almost the same size as you are. I’m a 34 x 34 (I’m a square, basically), which is a size I can usually find, God be thanked. The worst hell would be to be 35 x 33. With those measurements, you’d be walking around your birthday suit.

It’s all my fault. I can never seem to find pants that are the right size. I think it’s a curse. I recently became 6’3" and around 200lbs (I lost about 30 pounds), and last weekend I went shopping for some new pants, size 36"x34". There were loads of pants in my old sizes, but the Keep lightingtool From Ever Owning Pants That Fit Conspiracy kicked in and there were no pants in my size to be found. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I am 6’3", and I have been losing weight…down from 310# (as high as 46x34) to 250# (40x34) and getting close to wearing 38x34. My wife has had no problems getting Dockers for me over the years…maybe the store you go to is the one having the problems. She does shop on the internet in the last two or three years, but had no problem finding it at the stores.

I’m 38 x 34, and typically have trouble finding the correct size too. Strangely enough there are tons of 38 x 30 pants, but very few at the 34 length. I guess the chubbier guys are usually shorter (gravity?).

I’m a natural 34"x35" and no retail outlet stocks that size … ever.
By request or online is the only way I get replacement trousers.

I’ts not that there is are great swathes of people 6.3" or over buying this stuff it’s just that they make minimal numbers in this size as there is a derth of people 6.3" and over.

I am about the same size as you too (6’2 and 210 - 36x34). Sometimes I can find them - other times I can’t. Usually I don’t have much problems though. Shoes and shirts are big problems though. No Americans wear bigger than size 11 shoe? That’s what many stores would have you believe anyways.

Hubby has the same problem; I think that these sizes are just not stocked as much as the others. He’s 6’5" and 250#; wears a 40" x 34". Every 40" pant in the store appears to be made for Danny DeVito. I ususally buy his jeans on-line.

I’m not your size but my husband is, I saw them first, and I bought them. Sorry. You snooze you lose. They’ll get another pair in in three weeks or so.

I am definitely not your size.

Blame the store or the manufacturers. I usually wear petite sizes and have a hard time finding them. If I want to find the small sizes I have to get lucky and hit a store shortly after the product is stocked. The problem isn’t that there are so many people the same size buying the clothes, the problem is they don’t stock enough of that size. The fact that they always have plenty of middle of the range sizes for the clearance rack and never many petites doesn’t seem to register when it comes to buying.

I’m wearing 36x34 Dockers right now.

No, you can’t have them.

In that same vein, no woman has ever worn a shoe larger than a 10. Ever, if you go by store stocks.

Yes. Precisely my stats as well.
I hit my head on low-hanging stuff. Do you? You’d think they would fix that for all of us.

Strange, I find that the first sizes gone from the sales rack in the back are mine: 30x32. I can never find my size.

I wear 36x34. But I’m 6’4" and 190.

At the store I work, we will get a certain amount of size 2, 4, 10, 16, etc. What it is based on, I don’t know. Needless to say if we get one or two items in a certain size, then they will sell out. So if someone comes in and needs a certain size, they are not going to get it. I am a size 14 and I have a tough time finding my size.

I’m 6’5" and about 210# there was a time when I wore 33x36 which was terrible. I’m glad I’ve gained weight because it’s a heckofalot easier to find 36x36. If I could really have my way I’d wear 36x35. I find that Old Navy tends to have tall sizes. I’ve completely given up on most of the larger department stores I won’t even look through their racks anymore.

I think it’s because chubbier guys tend to wear their pants below their bellies, which effectively lowers their waists and takes inches off their inseams. At least, the chubby guys I know wear their pants like that.

Not so around here. I spent over an hour there the other day searching through all the racks for my size (28x32) and came up empty handed. It sucks being a bigger guy sometimes.
