I was shopping for jeans at Superstore / Loblaws today because I just happened to be in there for some hair gel and granola bars. I’m 5 feet 6.5 inches tall, male, 151.4 lbs as of this morning, and I have a 29 inch waist. I flipped through all the jeans they had at the store and smallest size they had was a 32 inch and there was just one. Every other variety of jeans, khakis, sweats, shorts, etc. for men were size 34 inches or greater. You could fit two of me in some of those pants. They weren’t running low on stock either because the shelfs and racks were filled.
What is this world coming to when I can’t get a pair of pants that fit? Everyone needs to lose some weight so we get back normal sized jeans.
My 19 year old son is your size. He swims in 29 waist Levis, which are the smallest mens/ student size pants I can find. He’s got kind of short legs so I’m thinking of going back down into boys size 18 or 20.
I found 20 slims that are 28 inch waist with 30 3/4 inch inseam.
My ex-husband wore a 28" waist with a 32" inseam (amazing that I can remember that ten years after the divorce) and we had to shop in the boys department. He was 5’3" and 130 lbs. When he finally gained a few pounds and had a 30" waist, we finally could move up to men’s, and he was still far from fat.
Sorry, folks, but the NIH says the OP is of normal, healthy weight. Actually, on the upper bound of that. His BMI, given the data in the OP is 24.1, while the upper limit for normal, healthy weight is 24.9.
At 26.9, I’m moderately overweight. I’m fat and so are most of you.
I have the same problem as the OP finding pants/shorts that fit. I’m 5’10", 145-150 lbs. Not only that, but I have, to use the accepted medical parlance, “no ass.”
Example: I was trying to find a pair of shorts a few months ago. I have a 31" waist, but they only sell them (at Target, anyway) in even-numbered increments. I tried on the 30" waist: A little snug, but wearable. Then I tried on the 32" waist, and I could literally put them on and take them off without unbuttoning the waistband. Ridiculous.
Regarding on-line shopping, out of curiosity I just now went to www.levisstore.com and priced some jeans, then checked the same jeans at www.sears.com. For the exact same pair of jeans, the price direct from Levi’s is $46.99, and at Sears it’s $31.99. Just FYI. Also, Sears usually has a big jeans sale sometime in the fall or winter, and they’ll take another $10 or so off that price.
If you were a woman, they’d be swarming around you, and then bitching about you behind your back. (Well, not so much a woman with a 29 inch waist, but if you were that much skinnier than everyone around you.)
My dad is tiny (something like 5’3" or 5’4" and dangerously underweight at 95 pounds) and can’t find anything to fit him. Several years ago he went to Hong Kong and while he was there he had a wardrobe tailor-made for less than the cost of a good suit.
Also have you checked eBay? I’ve seen XXXXL clothes so surely there must be stuff in slightly smaller than average sizes.
