Is it cold where you live - Too bad, I having a pool party

I love the nice weather I am having. Right it is 4 degree F with a wind chill of -17 degrees F. It is going to get up 8 degrees F with a down right hot wind chill of -2 degrees. But tomorrow it will only get to 5 degree F. :frowning:

So for all you people who live where it is cold - ha ha, I am going to go sun tanning later today out by the pool at my party. It should only take a minute or so before my whole body has a nice redish glow. All you people north of the Yukon should come done here and come to my pool party - bathing suit optional.

Yikes, where do you live?

North of the Yukon? You mean like all those people living in the Beaufort Sea?

6 degrees fahrenheit here by me, with wind chill it’s about 20 below.

But the hot tub is 103 degrees, and it overlooks the big pond (Old Michigan steams like a young man’s dreams) which is building up nicely with ice.

We had our hair freeze up while in the tub last night. That’s the sign that the best hot tub weather has arrived! But it wasn’t cold enough yet to need earmuffs in the tub. Maybe tonight.

It’s about 75 degrees here (I’m in San Diego right now).

Hot tub = little girl pool. Get in the pool like a man. It is over 0.

Well, it was 38° here yesterday and it looks as though we’re in for a scorcher on Christmas Day.

Cunctator beat me to it. We had a baking, shimmering, heat-hazy day which hit over 100 F. Then, in the afternoon, there was a brief, impressive, cooling storm with rain at monsoonal levels. After that, a nice balmy night. This morning, I’m walking around my backyard in shorts and no shirt and it’s utterly comfortable.

Pardon?

No, my parents were married, thank you very much.

To add to TLD and Cunctator it’s a little cool today but recently it’s been magnificent weather for our pool.

Went in just the other night, around 9:30 and the water temp was still around 30 C.

Hmmm. I love a warm Christmas (although it does make the illuminated snowmen in the front yard a little weird).

<shrug>

It’s about 4 degrees F out at the moment, and we’re pushing 2 feet of snow.

I LIKE it that way. You SHOULD have snow in December.

It’s… comforting.

Like fetus, I’m in San Diego. I left the house this morning at about 10:30 to go to work, and there was someone sunbathing by the pool. And there wasn’t the slightest bit of chill in the air.

Of course, it’s also dry as a bone. My hair is supposed to be naturally curly, but you wouldn’t know it to look at me today.

Get in a hot tub with Kel?

38 degrees!!!

I’m gonna hafta wait for the bus tomorrow morning in the -25 temperatures! In the dark! And we still don’t have any snow accumulation! All the disadvantages of winter and none of the pretty*!

sob

[sub]Bloody smug southern-hemisphere types…

*Well, okay, that wasn’t quite accurate. When I went out to return a couple of movies, there was many ice crystals flashing and glittering on the ground. Very nice, and much better than that nasty 1-degree-and-drizzle stuff we get too much of.

But my nose hairs still froze up. [/sub]

Smug southern hemisphere type here (Australia)…

I have fond memories of Christmas day in my uncle’s pool drinking beer in 38C (100F) heat (two years in a row). I’m certainly not dreaming of a white Christmas.

Tomorrow’s high is supposed to be -21 Celsius. Wind chill’s supposed to be -46! (That’s -51 F.)

Ahh, Ottawa.

Yes well, here in Broome it was 34C (94F) yesterday with a minimum of 29C (84F) overnight. On Wednesday the 8th it got to 42C (108F). The lowest daytime high temp so far this month has been 33C (91F). A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to go to Kununurra where the day time temp was 45C (113F). I can’t wait to go there again!

Kununurra is such a delightful place. So far this month it’s lowest high has been 38C (100F) with the highest at 45C and 15 days at over 40C.

There have been three brief showers in Broome since the last rain in June this year.

I wish I could step in with reports of balmy Auckland days. Alas, it hailed over the weekend. Hailed. Bloody weather gods. We’d better have the warmest winter on record to make up for this shit of a summer.

Sounds positively awful.

My forecast, by the way, has risen to a balmy high of -25C.

:smack: :smack: :smack: :smack:
And by that I meant to say that the WIND CHILL had risen from -46 to a balmy -41. Because -25 is, in fact, colder and LOWER than -21.

I never did get those negative numbers.

Got in the hot tub myself last night - in the snow. Wind was blowing a gale and the snow didn’t feel too good on my ears, but from the chin down I was toasty. Only stayed in long enough to down a stiff Scotch and a little smoke and then said to myself, “You’re nuts. Go inside where it’s warm.”

Still, the hot tub is the place to be if it is cold and NOT snowing or sleeting.
