You mean Adult Swim doesn’t show anime anymore? Yeah, I’d say that it’s gotten a lot stupider, then.
I don’t think the cable company will get my business back anytime soon.

I believe, Tamex, that they do an anime-only Adult Swim on Saturday nights now.
I can’t believe I’m the only one who liked the Oblongs. Honestly, it took a few episodes becaues they grossed me out, but once I really started watching, I thought it was hilarious. But I think becaues Bob saved the show—he had all the best lines.
Y’mean we might actually get to see God, the Devil, and Bob again?
Brak was the only reason I watched Cartoon Planet, and now is the only reason I watch Adult Swim*. No matter how many times I see is, the episode with Thunderclease’s fish always gets me ROFL.
And I really wish I could get high while Aqua Teen is on. 'specially if the Moonites show up…
*I mean, the Sunday A.S. Cowboy Bebop is the only reason to watch the Saturday A.S.
You just about summed up my reaction. I didn’t like the first few episodes because it took me awhile to get used to the characters – that thing on the little girl’s head really grossed me out at first. After awhile I stopped noticing. I’m not crazy about all of the episodes, but some of them made me laugh so hard I almost hurt myself.
Most weeks I end up taping Adult Swim and watching it later (I tape the whole block because CN keeps changing the order of the shows). Home Movies is generally pretty good. I never really liked the Brak Show, and I always skip the Ripping Friends. I didn’t even bother watching that new show (Groovenians?).
I hated Aqua Teen Hunger Force at first, but it kinda grew on me after awhile. And Harvey Birdman is a must see.
Someone else said this already, but I’m asking again: What happened to the Aquaman dance?
Home Movies absolutely rules! There isn’t another show on TV like it. It seems to be getting a lot better this season, too.
Coach McGuirk and Jason are hilarious, especially when they go off on Cartman-esque freak-outs. Coach had an especially memorable one while trying to teach Brendon how act crazy in prison in the episode from 11/10:
“NO! No, man! No, man! NO! Idon’tthinkso! Idon’tthinkso! All right?! Is it?! Is it?!”
Mission Hill was also a great show, especially since they had references to Gordon Lightfoot (which for some reason I find deliciously funny) in no less than three of the thirteen episodes.

The new Aqua Teen and Sealab episodes weren’t the absolute best, but they were still pretty funny. And I though last week’s ATHF with David Cross’ ‘Hank’ action figure was great.
All I can say about these two shows is that there’s really no explaining them. You either really love them or absolutely hate them. I loved them both the moment I first watched them.
Ripping Friends, um, stinks. And I liked Ren & Stimpy. Their creator John K. (and his mentor Ralph Bakshi) deserves a lot of credit for basically defining 90s animation. But ten years on the weird, slow-paced style by itself isn’t entertaining. The scripts for Ripping Friends just aren’t funny. And the characters are not endearing like R&S were.
And Groovedia. What the hell was this doing on Adult Swim?! They might as well have shown Family Guy! Not only was it lame, but it was meant to be lame, i.e. it was typical network TV fare. Not innovative, original, edgey, different, nothing! Just plain lame.
And I like Home Movies. Its not as weird is ATHF or Brak or SGC2C or Sealab but it has the same non-punchline, improv kind of humor. And it’s even better than Dr. Katz.

We sure might get to see “God, the Devil and Bob.” It was OK. I really want to see “Science Court.” I caught a couple of those long ago and really want to see them again.
There are two Adult Swims. Saturday is anime and Sunday is what we’re talking about here.
It doesn’t help. Believe me.
“Blame.” The word you want there is “blame.”
Heretic!
I like The Oblongs!
*“My turtle died. I think I’ll turn it into an ashtray.”
“That’s my little Martha Stewart!”
*or something like that.
Nope, I’m gonna have to go with Hail Ants on this one, Juanita. “Home Movies” is better that “Dr. Katz”.
I hope everyone knows that starting in January Adult Swim is going to be on Monday-Thursday nights at 11:00 with “Futurama”, “Home Movies”, and “Cowboy Bebop” in the lineup. Saturday night will be no more, and Sunday night will be all the weird comedy cartoons and Space Ghost. Now if we can only get The Tick in the lineup, I can die a happy man.
JuanitaTech adds vibrotronica to her list of heretics…
Dop-dweeeeee-dopdopdop-dwee-dow!
I second the Tick! (note the properly UN-capitalized ‘t’ in ‘the’ :)) While we’re at it, how about some Freakazoid?
Add me to the list, too! Dr. Katz was 90% just recycled material from stand-up routines, anyway. “Home Movies” has plots. More or less. And great songs! Who can forget “Don’t Put Marbles Up Your Nose?” Or “He Needs A Moment to Process This to a Point of Understanding?” And Ben Katz gets TWO parts – Jason AND Coach McGurk!
Bizzaro!
After a while, I had to laugh because the episode was sooooo stupid! That’s what made it funny, the meta-jokes like the Bizarro Quinn being freaking annoying.
Wait, wait, wait, what about the Saturday shows? Are they going to be on Mon-Thurs? Because if they stop airing th anime, I swear to God, my husband is going to kill something.
Yes it is, but it still pisses me off that Comedy Central doesn’t even show reruns of Dr. Katz.

What? What what? Where did you read that? I scoured the Adult Swim website, and I didn’t see any such thing!
They better be taking me up on my suggestion of starting an anime network, or I’ll be pissed
Apparently Vis is starting an anime channel. I don’t know if it’s affiliated with Cartoon Network, but there will be one soon. Good luck on getting your cable provider to carry it…
I have Dish Network, and I’ll subscribe to whatever package it takes to get it! Yippee!
