It’s not just you, but I don’t think porn has really changed all that much. What HAS changed is basically how available it is today, and also how many independent/amateur poor producers (or just a couple of people with a video camera and the ability to upload) there are out there today. All of the types of porn out today were available in the past, of course, but the availability just wasn’t there. Today, any number of ‘free’ porn portal sites has more content that an entire porn store in the past…many, many times more in fact. And there is a staggering diversity on almost any of the sites, let alone niche sites that cater to certain vertical, er, markets.
Myself, I’ve noticed that a lot of the more mainstream porn has gone to more gangsta type dialogue I guess you could say. I watch a lot of Hispanic type porn personally (since I’m Hispanic), and the dialogue is more what I hear in the barrio these days (lot’s of treating the girls badly, and the girls seeming to want to be treated badly). Part of this might also be because I am into more niche type poor (not to get into TMI, but I like full figured women), and maybe that attracts the more ‘mean’ types. It’s kind of a turn off to me, but since there is so much porn out there you can simply look elsewhere when you come across it.
None of this is new…I’ve been watching porn for decades…but like I said, there is just so much of it and it’s so available that you are going to find just about anything and everything out there today where once you had less chance of coming across something you weren’t looking for.

My preferences in porn are… unusual (no, I’m not going to say what they are). But sometimes I want to see a slutty chick who likes it kinda rough, and when I want that I go to a ‘regular’ porn site. Even then I usually stumble upon something a little too rough for my liking. I don’t know what porn was like decades ago, so I can’t compare then and now, but there is a lot of rough stuff front and center.
I think most of the odd stuff is because they’re attempting to cater to several niche audiences with the same product. Porn is driven by regulars more than more casual audiences. Regular viewers tend to be kinky, probably because porn is the most readily available outlet for kinks. They’re often the only viewers willing to actually pay for the stuff, as long as it hits their kinks.
So now there’s spitting, ass-to-mouth, humiliation, rough sex, bondage, voyeurism, foot shots, facials, creampies, etc. ad nauseum in nearly every video — if not every scene. Porn producers are trying to cater to as many fetishists as they can, as well as the mainstream audience who mostly just wants to see hot girls naked and fucking. (I say girls because most porn is consumed by and targeted to men, not women.)
The same sort of economics have been pushing anime into Moe design, and Shôjo storylines. Niche audiences buy everything that fits their narrow criterion. Mainstream audiences only buy occasionally, so you can’t support a studio by doing only “normal” stuff; you’ve got to go #^¢£ing weird to keep your core audience of [del]batshit crazies[/del] rabid fans happy.
I think porn is going to get worse and worse till it’s not here anymore.
Wasn’t there talk of putting it all under one url or one app or one porn window so to speak.
Sweden or one of those Scandinavian countries thought porn was good for men and even did a case study by allowing men who had been involved in child molestation to view child porn as therapy to keep them from doing the real thing, but all it did was wet their appetite to find another child to give into their molestation fantasies.
Didn’t work so they shut the program down.
Worse and worse sure sounds like what they offer now days from animals to snuff films, but how can your really tell if the girls are acting or really being tortured?

(b) The issue as to whether porn relieves the stress or “it only whets their appetite” is, to this day, a speculative debate about ALL porn where there is no real consensus that any study has “proven” it one way or the other…
(b) Bestiality porn has been around since the 1970s, I regret to let you know. And again I’d like to hear of any case of authorities seriously investigating a possible snuff film.

I would have thought that eroticism was the point of porn. Desire is a mental state of mind and what little I’ve seen in porn seems distinctly non-erotic. To me it also seems like a progressive race to the bottom. I don’t get it. I do get that women are aroused by reading trashy novels. They’re mental sex candy that promotes fantasy. Porn seems to on the fast track to pure sadism with no redeeming erotic or fantasy attributes.
It’s as if the only value is shock and for that to continue it has to be ever more shocking to generate the same effect.

The internet, which at first seemed like a license to print money for porn producers, has in fact been a disaster. It is nowadays very hard to make money from porn because there is so much easily available for free. So there is more porn than ever, more easily available than ever, but less money to be made than ever.

I don’t understand why so much hetero porn these days seems to involve a man putting his hands round a woman`s throat. To me there is nothing erotic about this.

On the other hand, there are some women who — in real life, not porn — get off on this kind of thing. I had a girlfriend back in college who wanted rougher treatment than I honestly was comfortable with. I had trouble getting over enough inhibitions to give her what she wanted. Choking was one of those things.
