If you need to ask the age of the members of this MB, you are either a moron, a data-collector, or in the wrong place. A cursory appraisal of the stats of our members will give you some idea of the demographic here (which btw, spans from 17 to 90+ Happy Birthday Klondike!)
Maybe not base your evaluation of our opinions on our age, but our experience instead.
I never think it’s rude, but that’s probably because I get some very confused looks when I tell the truth – I don’t look anywhere near my real age. “What do you mean you didn’t know [random thing] until you were in your thirties?” they ask quizzically, thinking I’m still an undergrad.
Probably more scandalous is the fact that I’ve been loitering in SDMB-space since I was fourteen. :eek: Where were my parents, you ask? Out buying more books, most likely. They were the ones who started handing me the collected columns in the first place.
Honestly, I don’t know why people give a shit. I’m 42. I’m happy to answer if anyone asks. But there still seems to be some sort of stigma about it, so I don’t. Why? Fuck if I know.
Most people think it’s rude to ask, but it doesn’t bother me telling random strangers my age. I’m 29.
