Is it standard practice for young(ish) women to shave/wax pubic hair...

…completely or almost completely? If you’re a woman, do you? Age, please? At what age did you start taking it all or almost all off?

Men: show of hands, please. How many have never seen (in person) a woman’s genital area that was completely unshaven/unwaxed? Age, please? Comments on this female practice encouraged.

If you’re male and a virgin, or gay, and/or a gay virgin, you are excused from participating. Unless you reallyreally want to.

Male.
In person, no. It seems to have become the style at some point after I married The Wife. (Twenty-five years last fall.)

I spend a lot of time at nude beaches. Maybe the sample there is skewed, but I rarely see a woman with more than the tiniest of patches, and more than half of them are completely clean-shaven. They range in ages from 18 up through the eighties.

Male, 51. Yes, one or two before I met my wife. Now, every day.

I’m still “youngish,” and I’d say just over half the women I’ve been with were either shaved/waxed completely or partially (and when I say partially I mean more than just a simple bikini line shave. Typically just what’s known as a “landing strip” is left.) (Of course, just over half tells you nothing without the full number, but in the interest of modest we’ll say the total is between 10 and 100. :p)

I’d say that greater than 50% of young women (I don’t know what you want to define as young women, but let’s say under 35) are shaved or waxed. As you get closer to “college aged” that percentage goes up, probably close to or even over 80% for the 18-22 crowd.

I’ve watched the process since the early 1970s. I find it dismaying that pubic hair has gone from sexy to “OMG I’m gonna puke!” - which is where it seems to be at with the 20-somethings and down.

Certainly a tangled birds nest never was attractive, but the loss of even well-groomed patches is, well, a loss.

I have seen unshaven hair but it seems a universal practice amongst my contemporaries to shave. I am no fan of bald pussy visually but similarly not hugely enamoured of totally unshaven. Ideal for me is shaven on labia and tidy bushy above. In these tastes by the way I am abnormal in my age group most prefer far more shorn. I have some theories why I am an outlier but meh

It’s about a 50% shot or so from my somewhat limited personal experience. Personally i am all for it and glad it is catching on.

Wow. Are you me?

Male, 51. Yes, a few before my wife, now every day.

Woman, age 50. I have shaved a few times over my adult life, but it was pretty much regarded as a novelty. Normally just a little trimmed for neatness. And my husband, age 52, sees it pretty much on a daily basis and to judge by his behavior has no problem with it.

Male, age 33. Married 7 years, in exclusive relationships since 19. All the women I’ve been with hit puberty in Mid-1980s to Mid-90s. I have never seen in-person anything close to shaven.

Female, 32. I do a brazilian or full shave once every few months when the mood strikes. Otherwise, I only trim.

I am 36, and generally shave everything except for a little “Hitler” at the top. I don’t know any women who don’t shave most, if not all, of it off.

A lot of this might depend on how much hair you have down there. If I went full-on bush, I’d have pubes growing halfway down my thigh. It’s much easier just to shave it all then mess around with shaping and grooming and trimming.

Yummy!

Completely unshaven? I don’t know for sure – I suspect most of the women had some little routine “going down” there. I have never been that interested as the nights got later and drunker in inspecting at nose-length to say for sure. I guess I only knew one woman who truly had one wild bush – she was known for it, though, among her friends.

Comments? I don’t know, I don’t really care. Complete bare shaving is really odd to me, though – obsessive, obvious “refinements” in chicks are about as hawt as long, glue-on fingernails and eyelashes and giant fake breasts. And Tammy Faye Baker makeup. I don’t like it, but I never (?) “saw” or “experienced” first hand a completely shaved snizz.

I’m 35.

I’m 31 and I and the other women around my age that I’ve talked about it with all shave. It would be weird not to.

Gross.

Woman, late 40’s.

Never shaved down there. I trimmed mostly when wearing swimsuits and/or short-shorts. The only real “routine” is to keep the area clean.

None of my boyfriends or my husband ever expressed an opinion as to what they’d like that I can recall. In my experience, men aren’t inclined to turn down sex simply because of a hairstyle.

Female, 34. Only gone bare a couple times and to horrible results. My skin can’t take it one bit.

I’ve never ever had a complaint that I have hair.

Every woman I have ever been with born before July 27th, 1959 has been a completely au naturel, take-me-as-I-am wild and woolly bushwhacker.

Every woman I have been with born after April 16, 1961 has been a meticulous (and often creative) trimmer.

In between those dates lie the edge-trimmer, take-a-little-off-the-top types.
