"Is it that the Dems don't understand white, working-class America?" No, that's not it

This is just something people say when their side loses. It is symptomatic of a mentality that our side is right and the other side is wrong. The Republicans take it to the point where they are willing to hurt the country in the short term because they think their ideas are so much better than Democrat ideas that they have convinced themselves that torpedoing the country in the short term is just tough love.

I see some Democrats starting down this road. Its dangerous.

Sure Hillary got 3 million more votes, and 90 million eligible voters didn’t vote at all. So who gives a shit that Hillary got 3 million extra votes in places like San Francisco and New York City if she lost in places like Michigan (where Republicans literally poisoned the population in order to save a few bucks and push the privitization of the water works), Wisconsin (which hasn’t gone Republican over a generation)?

We elect our presidents with the electoral college system. Someone really should have told the Hillary campaign about the electoral college if they didn’t know because the popular vote is fucking meaningless especially in a country where voter participation hovers between 50% and 60%.

This popular vote thing is such a pathetic whiny excuse it makes Democrats look like whiny little bitches.

Trump did not engage Hillary in the primary debates.

You realize that the cheating from Hillary didn’t occur during the general election where everyone is watching each other. The cheating occurred during the primary where the DNC was deep in the bag for Hillary. If the emails had not been leaked, sure, Hillary might have won but the fact of the matter is she got torpedoed by facts, not spin, not bullshit Republican lies over the last 30 years, facts.

You should have to work to feed yourself and your children.

You’re normalizing donald and the election. You know, the thing we’re discussing now.

“Hillary apologists”? Did you vote for her? Who’s apologizing for what?

Cheating?

Look at the guy who won this. Look at your own posts.

Are you really saying after all this that donald is someone whose honor you can defend?

If you are greasing the skids for donalds reign then you are seriously much more troubled than the voters on either side of this.

Little holiday message for ya

Fred Trump’s real estate fortune was hardly due to his faith in the free market, but instead stemmed from his reliance on government subsidies. He made his money building middle-class apartments financed by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA). In 1954, when Donald was 8 years old, his father was subpoenaed to testify before the Senate Banking Committee on allegations that he had ripped off the government to reap windfall profits through his FHA-insured housing developments. At the hearings, the elder Trump was called on the carpet for profiteering off public contracts, including overestimating the construction costs of his projects in order to get larger mortgages from FHA. Under oath, he reluctantly admitted that he had wildly overstated the development costs.

Donald has followed in his father’s corrupt footsteps. Trump’s career is littered with bogus businesses (like Trump University); repeated ripoffs of suppliers, contractors and employees whom he failed to pay for services rendered; and the misuse of the Trump Foundation to feather his own nest while trying to look like a philanthropist. Six of Trump’s businesses have gone bankrupt. Despite this, on April 18, 2015, Trump tweeted this falsehood: ”For all of the haters and losers out there sorry, I never went Bankrupt.”

Just a note: an apologist is not someone who apologizes.

Apologist definition: “a person who offers an argument in defense of something controversial.”

The word has nothing to do with apologizing (even though it sounds like it should).

Carry on.

I thought you were for basic income.

Are you now saying that you are for basic income, but not enough to feed yourself and your family?

What if you cannot find a job?

What if there are no jobs available to you because of automation or outsourcing?

Are you now advocating that if people are unable to find work in a shrinking labor pool, they and their families should starve?

ETA: As you are for basic income replacing minimum wage, does that mean that if basic income does not actually meet the basic needs of survival, how can someone make enough to feed their family if they can only get pennies on the hour? What if they are working, and still unable to feed themselves and their family?

Remember this incident next time they pull their little flags out, questioning other people’s loyalty. I damn sure will.

I don’t think he was joking. And even if he was (which I don’t believe) it was amazingly bad judgement, and would not explain his various “explanations” now, or the suspicious opposition to any real investigation.

Besides which no matter how you or anyone else tries to minimize it, they were trying to “win for Trump”. … or at the very least, undermine and sabotage our election process and government.

Why are you defending this? If you love Russia so damn much, GO THERE.

He’s defending this because it resulted in a victory for his party. It’s surprising that someone would even ask.

It was a rhetorical question. I already knew the answer - and am disgusted by it.

The complete package is no minimum wage, basic income, proper safety net based on real need.

Why don’t all the socialists here move to Venezuela? Why don’t all the dumb asses who keep threatening to move to less diverse countries when a Republican wins do so?

And I’m not defending anything, doofus, I’m saying that blaming Trump for the Russians’ actions when President Obama knew and did nothing which the left is silent about is very dishonest.

I’m disgusted by you lying jackasses on the left who don’t assign blame properly. And you do it because of party loyalty. I’m disgusted by the real voter fraud in Detroit that the left is silent about. A bunch of Democrat criminals counting ballots 2-3 times in Detroit and we don’t hear about that.

Trump is not responsible for Russian activity. Russians are. Duh.

Okay, not sure how that squares with your earlier comment on, “You should have to work to feed yourself and your children.”

I will agree with that you should have to work to provide luxuries for yourself and children, but we do live in a country where the basic necessities like food shouldn’t be a problem.

The whiny little bitches thing is just astounding coming from you. But all too familiar psychologically I suppose.

You voted for Hillary and you are here basically to punish her voters and complain about how bad a candidate she was, over and over and over. So wouldn’t that make you a nagging whiny little bitch?

When anyone questions you your response is “But she was SOOOOOO bad!!!” Great way to fight ignorance huh?

And amidst this you are spouting truisms and straw men and basically saying you don’t believe donald was that bad… really?!

He said he was an authoritarian, and worse, and demonstrated it every day for a year, and you are basically ignoring and soft soaping that, making nice nice with the guy you voted against and claiming that this is just democracy in action, every day stuff. Maybe as a way to punish liberals here? Get a life.

So why did you vote against donald? You said you had problems with him but it isn’t evident at all that you really did.

I’ll explain it in a way even you will understand … Go fuck yourself.

My office mate keeps asking me this (not that I’m a socialist), but the answer is pretty simple – it’s possible to do socialism badly, just like it’s possible to do any system badly, and Venezuela is doing it very badly. Socialism and capitalism can be used smartly and used stupidly. Trying to use capitalism to win a war would probably fail miserably. Trying to use socialism to develop the best widget would also fail miserably.

…over the next four years the most powerful nation in the history of the world is going to be led by an incompetent doofus, a misogynist arsehole, a lying scumbag. And whatever happens in the next four years it will not be the responsibility of the people who voted for and supported Hillary. Its time to stop blaming the Democrats for allegedly “not reaching out.”

It will be the responsibility of those who voted for and supported Donald Trump. It will be the responsibility of Trump and his family and the people who they have drafted into his administration. Over the last two years Donald Trump had demonstrated to the world what a terrible, despicable human being he is. And millions of people voted for him. When the shit hits the fan (and it will) we will all remember who was responsible.

“don’t assign blame properly”

You are a trip. This skill you speak of as so important, and which you so quite clearly have… it sounds like the preoccupation of a certain kind of person.

Who was the best at doing this? Hitler, Stalin, pol pot, maybe you have your own personal fave.

If you don’t want to get godwinized don’t make fascist assertions.

I assume from your last line that you admitting that people who voted for donald are responsible for donald, now. duh? Or is it that rebuplican problems get socialized, and blamed on the left, and democratic problems get free marketed, and blamed on the left.

You are a complete hypocrite.

Because if you are capable of working and need the money don’t you have the responsibility to contribute to society?

Triggered?

It was a response to “why don’t you move to Russia!!???11?” Why that question was originally asked is beyond me.

Ok. Not sure why that’s a directed at me when I was saying Russia should be responsible for Russia.

What are you talking about? Do you not understand that Russia is responsible for Russia? Has this whole board gone crazy?

And what’s a “fascist assertion?” Is it fascist to suggest that responsible parties are in fact responsible? If Russia did the hacking that’s Russia’s problem? If Obama knew and didn’t do anything because of some weird fear of being perceived as partisan that that is Obama’s problem? Mentioning that is being a “complete hypocrite.”? Am I on the bizzaro-straightdope or is reading comprehension really this bad?

…well you don’t seem too bright. So not understanding why this was directed at you does not surprise me at all.
