No kidding - he gave no warning hints, his departure was abrupt, and he didn’t lurk after his last post. I really do wonder if he’s okay.
I’ve wondered about this for a while,actually. I even googled Bay Area obits on the off chance that he was using his real name. Didn’t find anything concerning, although I didn’t expect to.
I hope he’s OK. I liked him.

Another is Boyo Jim. I was just reading an old thread that had been linked in a current thread and was reminded of him. Checking stats, he hasn’t posted since 2017 even after being a most prolific poster with over 35k posts since 2001.
I miss twickster. Last activity was June 2016.
Really nice lady. She always started a Dancing With the Stars thread every season.
I remember she stepped down as a Mod and then left shortly afterwards.
Wonky is another member I’ve missed. Been thinking about her lately. Hope she’s doing well.

He doiesn’t live that far from me, but he didn’t go to the very small Silicon Valley Dopefest or the bigger San Francisco one years and years ago.
Has anyone tried PMing him? When I vanished (from being fed up with the world, not the Dope) a PM was a very nice thing to get.
I had wondered about LSLGuy myself, and someone who knows him IRL said that he decided to take a break from message boards for a while, and at least at that time, he was very much alive and well.
I have an IRL friend who left a website in similar fashion; she had posted almost 20,000 times on that site until she abruptly stopped in 2010, except for a single post in 2012, and she last visited that site in 2015. Interestingly, she’s still interested in that subject but just doesn’t visit that website any more. I don’t know why and it’s not my business anyway. For that matter, there’s a site where I may not post for months at a time, and then I’ll show up and make a bunch of posts, and then once again go bye-bye for a while.

I think she announced she was stepping down as a mod due to events in her life, and stopped posting at around the same time, too. Another valued poster whose return would be welcome. Along with John Mace, IMHO.

Malthus at least is not dead, I just saw him on a Star reddit posting another of those cards he does. Probably just got sick of this place and/or doesn’t have the time to be all places on the internet at once. One of my favorite posters, so good to see he still survives.
I liked John Mace as well. Hopefully he is okay and just decided to walk away from the SDMB.
As I rather suspect Bricker did. He seemed unusually thin-skinned towards the end there. Probably decided to save himself the stress and agitation. We’ve quietly lost a whole lot of folks to that. Unfortunate, but a message board should never be a source of real world stress - when that starts happen best to take a sabbatical, whether temporary or permanent.
wonky is also missing, guys. She’s been gone since September 2018. It actually kind of bums me out that I haven’t noticed this or John Mace’s absence until now. I’ve been taking you folks for granted.
