I have a tiny first-world complaint.
We went to Belgium at the beginning of last month. My husband’s eyesight isn’t as good as it used to be, so prior to that trip I ordered a couple of little night lights with EU style plugs to take with us. Found them on Amazon, cheap, easy, no problem.
We’re going to Edinburgh in August so I thought I’d do the same but with UK-style plugs. You’d think I was looking for unicorn tears - nothing at all to be found.
I did a general search on Google, found something I thought would work, and then did a search for it on Amazon UK (I have an account there because I’ve used Amazon Fresh in London). It was there, it was cheap, but of course it needs to be shipped from the UK. So Amazon US sees a big enough demand for the EU type product to have loads of them on their site, but UK style is a no-go? WTF.

Can you just use a regular plug-converter gadget, and plug the EU device into the UK plug with the converter as an intermediary?
Yes (and I could do that with a US plug night light too), but I like to save my 2 adapters for the expensive stuff we take with us, like computers and camera equipment. The adapters are bulky and take up space. The night lights are tiny and I can just plug one in and leave it there.
I don’t know how much light is required, but perhaps a battery powered light? This one is rechargeable with a USB cord. Just something that came up fast in a search, I’m sure there are others.
Some of those little LED lights throw off a LOT of light. I have a couple that plug into USB A sockets that are about the size of a Scrabble tile and they’re amazingly bright.
CNN says there will be a massive stellar event… a Nova… in a constellation very near M92 (Hercules) and that is should happen “soon”.
I still don’t know where in the sky that is though. Low on the horizon? South? North? East? West? Does anyone here have easy to follow directions of (roughly) where and when that constellation appears in the night sky if one were to look for it? ( The explosion… nobody knows when. )
That’s when I say, in a sugary, bless your heart voice, “let me throw that away for you.” It conveys “you are an asshole” in a way the asshole can’t argue with.
And you throw it away by setting it on their windshield and carefully pinning it with the wiper, assuming you can do this safely.
Of course, given the behavior, I suspect that the driver of the truck was a) not sporting a handicapped placard, and b) armed.
I like that a lot! I’ll do that next time. I guess I need to keep a grabber and a trash bag in my car.
We have been potty training my kid for a few months and we’re still in the middle of it. We’ve had a fair amount of success at home, at therapy and in ECSE. We just started summer schedule which means three days a week in day care.
My husband said we should just send him to daycare in underwear, so we did. Didn’t go so well. When I picked him up today the teacher told me he was distraught and wet and refused to put underwear back on so she put him back in pullups.
I feel like it’s one step forward two steps back with this. I know that teachers can’t individually potty train kids but it’s so hard when the key to success is consistency. When he has to go back and forth between pull ups and underwear I’m sure it’s so much more confusing for him.

Well they never sent an email or any follow up, but the online status on my account now shows I passed the evaluation! So I’m very relieved, and yet even more annoyed at this shitty-ass organization for their complete lack of professionalism.
Now I have to figure out a few more bureaucratic hurdles, but the hard part is done, yay!
