Does anyone know if LOST is being shown in other countries like the UK, Canada, Australia or New Zealand ?
If so, which ones and is it as big a hit as it is in the USA?

Followup: When will the second season be rerun?
We get it up here in Canada the same time as you guys do. I like to watch it on ABC because sometimes if I’m lucky the feed will cut out at the right moment so I get to see the Canadian and the American previews (which are different).
They are watching Lost in Euopre as well. Britain and Hungary I know for certain, but they are watching season 1 right now.
It’s being shown in Korea, too, on cable channels. Korean cable shows quite a few American TV dramas: CSI, Without a Trace, L&O, Sex and the City, Desperate Housewives, Felicity, Alias, 24, the list goes on and on. The seasons are always aired at least half a year late, though, and no reruns are shown - so each season only takes 3 months or so (they air twice a week).
Anyway, back to Lost: I think the interest in this show is mostly because of Kim Yoonjin (is that her name?). Foreign dramas never get as high ratings as domestic ones, but I think Lost is at least as popular as CSI and Desperate Housewives are here.
I know they’re watching it in the UK, and from some of the friends I have over there, it seems to be pretty popular.
I hope they’re watching it in Australia, since so many characters on the show are Australian.
Flutterby – just curious, but how do you know they’re watching it in Hungary?
We got in NZ. It screened about a month behind the states, I think (and I was SO GOOD about avoiding spoilers). We’ve been promised the second season, but it won’t screen untill next year, April/May probably. I remember it being pretty popular, but it had a lot of hype surrounding it, being as it was big in the States. I’d like to think I’m going to stay spoiler-free untill then, but I’m only human…
Anybody who hasn’t seen the way Lost has been promoted in the UK should check it out:
Sexy apocalyptic ballroom beach dance.
Here’s an alternate link to an 11mb mpeg version for folks for whom Google video doesn’t work so well.
Hot! Lynch-like.
It is (or was) being shown in Australia. I don’t have a television, so I haven’t seen it at all. I think it has been quite popular.
…TVNZ are acutally replayng Series One on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. My guess is that they are hoping to finish Series One and lead into Series Two straight away-meaning that Series Two can be shown without all those annoying interuptions that the poor US fans have to put up with…smart programming!
The first season just ended here in Hong Kong. Pretty popular, by the looks of it (you can tell by the length of the commercial breaks).
Season one was shown in France over the summer under the name ‘Lost - les disparus’ - they murdered it in typical French style by showing two or three episodes in a row every Saturday night.
I was in the London in August and there were huge billboards/hoardings advertising the show everywhere, initial reviews weren’t so good though - one was paticularly scathing about the lack of realsim of the crash, going so far as to ask a survivor of the Uruguayan rugby team that crashed in the Andes his view
Yes, it’s very popular here in Australia. It’s a flagship show for the channel it plays on here (Seven) and they’re currently replaying Season 1 in prep for Season 2 which begins here in February (I think). So we’re almost an entire season behind, which makes avoiding spoilers a minefield, and means we can’t join in with the chat for each episode. Big suck.
We’re getting it in India. Season 1 begain airing a few months ago.
Season two is currently running in Norway. It’s 3-4 episodes behind I think.
I think it’s starting in Japan sometime around now.
In the UK, Channel 4 are coming to the end of the first season. The heavily publicised first episode got a big rating for them, 6 million viwers or over 25% of all TV viewing at that time. It’s settled down now to 3 million+, still one of their most popular shows.
Waiting on Season Two to start in Ireland. RTE2 shows it.
Season one just wrapped up here in South Africa. Next season is due to begin in February or so, I believe…
Oddly, it’s on a movie channel. Everything else on the channel seems to be movies.

Cat Jones,
Why would you consider it “murdering” the program by showing two or three episodes in a row every Saturday night? I think I might enjoy seeing a large chunk of the show all at once. With all the repeats here in the USA, we’re lucky to see two or three shows in a month!
