It’s people like you who make me proud to be an American. I would say that even if you were out there, fighting your shyness to knock on doors for McCain. It’s your attitude and commitment that impresses me. Thank you for doing all you do.
I already have a small army, I’m just greedy and want more, that’s all. Actually, I’m about to head out and knock some doors as soon as I hit “Submit Reply”.
Indeed! Here’s to Tabithina!!
No, no. Stay in MO. McCain has already bailed on MI.
And they’re counting Michigan as weak Dem. Clearly McCain doesn’t think so.
Did you see the Senate numbers? 58 - 42 Dems.
It’s a bit frustrating being in California (55 -39) - but at least we don’t get hit with a lot of crappy McCain ads.
Imagine being in Utah. Not only is it fruitless to knock on doors here, we’re still subjected to McCain ads daily. Not a full on barrage, but they’re definitely noticeable and annoying.
I’m in IL–I know nothing from either candidate. (actually it’s kinda nice…).
Is that overflow from another media market? If McCain is spending money in Utah, I’d be really, really worried about his planning.
In Illinois here and scheduled to go to IN in a couple weeks. Of course, NW Indiana is already pretty heavily canvassed so I’m not sure where they’ll send me. I assume the Obama Indiana Machine has its plans.
For what it’s worth, 538 is saying that New Hampshire currently has the highest return on investment: It’s not the closest race, but it is close to the national average, which matters more, and the relatively low population means that it’s easier to sway. Any given amount of effort (time, money, etc.) is likely to go three or four times further in NH than in PA.
Addendum: I just checked 538 again. As of right now, they’re assigning a higher probability to Obama winning Texas (11%) than to McCain winning the whole thing (10.8%). I’m now officially very happy.
Isn’t this the best election ever? I haven’t even seen ads from many local or state candidates, though I did send some money to Bill Foster. Don’t even live in his district. Just really REALLY dislike Jim Oberweis.
In Chitown we are getting what I believe is some bleedover intended for the NW Indiana markets. Which is actually kind of one of the reasons why McCain is forkworthy- he has to spend in big-ass markets like Chicago, which are largely in non-swing states, to defend pesudored states like Indiana. I bet it is happening in other places too.
I don’t watch TV much, but it is nice. I cannot stand Jim Oberweis, either. There was a reason for my distaste that cropped up last election cycle, but I cannot remember what it was… And his milk service isn’t all that great, btw. Their skim milk is not truly skim, but I digress.
Perhaps it was his anti-immigrant ad campaign, which was essentially “the evil brown people are sneaking into this country and destroying the American way of life”?
My boss was working for Obama in Indiana over the weekend, registering voters. He had all sorts of young black men come up to him and beg for help registering to vote, saying that “it’s not cool anymore not to be registered!” I hope that sense of engagement sticks, no matter what happens with the election.
I’m jealous. I hate being in a swing state. The nonstop advertising is driving me crazy. I switch channels now when an ad comes on, from either party.
Ah, yes… those same evil brown people whom I’m sure he employs, non-union, of course. Yes, I think that’s it.
That is the coolest thing I have heard this election, period.
Oh yeah, I would almost pay for the privilege of doing an I-9 audit of his company.
This is all very heartening - reminds me of our first democratic elections, '94 - grannies queueing to get registered for the first time…
