Is mom angry with Old Spice?

There is another hilarious Old Spice commercial out there; this time, a mom is in the bowling alley singing a pirate chantey sounding song about Old Spice.

I can’t tell if she is upset about what Old Spice did to her son, or happy about it.

The Market Me Not people don’t think she is upset, but I’m not too sure.

Your views?

Definitely sounds upset, but kind of in a tongue-in-cheek sort of way. Who could honestly be upset about their son being a “sexy young man”?

Also, props to the interracial dating. Nice to see that in mainstream ads (I think it’s still really pretty rare).

That’s an awesome commercial, and I really wish it was a bit longer.

Too bad the product stinks, about the only thing worse smelling is Brute.

She’s angry. That one is part of a series that Old Spice did several months ago, all featuring clingy smothers.

What the FUCK is “MarketMeNot” except a collection of commercials, which are pretty much distilled, frontline marketing? What a terrible co-option of things like RetailMeNotand BugMeNot… I think I’ll create a site full of cat videos called YouTubeMeNot.

She’s smiling.

“Hilarious”? :dubious: I hope nobody actually got paid for making that pathetic attempt at humor.

Pirate chantey?

That commercial is hilarious, it’s unexpected, off-kilter, and …

she sounds like a pirate!

Arrrgh!

The slithering moms? Those are creepy and wrong.

Yes, I find that commercial rather creepy. Especially when the woman refers to her son as “sexy.”

The ad is obviously aimed at young rebelious teens who want to buck their parent’s wishes to be come spinsters and losers. It screams “Hey you sexy beast, don’t listen to your mom, you deserve a girlfriend and to be very sexy!”

And it’s hilarious the way it does it. Very effective ad and those of you who don’t like it must be 40 or 50 years old (either in chronological age or spiritual age).

Thanks for coming to my aid!

These commercials are hilarious, although I like this one too, I think it would have been better with just an acoustic guitar accompaniment like the bowling alley one.

Haha, so funny. Never gonna wear old spice but those sure are some great ads.
