Is My Google Homepage Boggin' My Computer Down?

I bought this computer (4 GB IBUY POWER 64 x2 dual processor 6000) mainly to play Warcraft, and it does fine for that, but I use iGoogle as my homepage, and I am wondering if perhaps I shouldn’t do that?

I have very few files on this set and I have the fastest DSL that At&T offers, but I still feel like I’m dial up sometimes.

I just broke away from the post to do a Speakeasy test and I came up with 5888 as a score.

Okay. I’ve got 10 apps running, but even when there aren’t any running, I feel like I’m having to wait.

Broke away again from this post and ran SpeakEasy again and came up with even less of a score: 5775, and that’s with just me and y’all in the apps.

I run AVG’s Virus scan, and I’m okay there, but I really like my iGoogle homepage, so before I shut it down I just wanted to ask if Google might be the reason for the whacky speed results or do I need to look elsewhere?

Thanks

Q

The fastest DSL AT&T offers is up to 6 Mbps, or 6000 kbps. In reality, you never get 100% of what they tell you you get, so your scores are just fine. Google isn’t bogging your connection speed down.

Thanks! Guess I’m just a “Type A” huh?

Q

“Feel like you’re on dial-up”, huh?

I used to feel like that sometimes when pages would take a few seconds to load up. Then my mum got connected to the internet, on actual dial-up. First time I tried checking my email at her house… oh, so that’s what dial-up was like! :frowning:
