Jenny actually believed she was helping kids. Graceless has no illusions. She will do any thing to get ratings. I am assuming she must have them. She is non apologetic even when she has creamed a bunch of college kids and destroyed their lives.
While I fully endorse this pitting in all its forms I am curious as to what was the event that put the OP over the top that drove him pit her at particular time.

McCarthy is also not on as much as Grace. Sure, the news media treat McCarthy’s proclamations as “alternative views” rather than batshit crazy rantings, which is a fault of the news media as much if not more than McCarthy. But Grace is employed by the news media, which (like Beck) gives her a veneer of respectability that she has not earned and certainly does not deserve.
More like 300 mil but yeah, good point, HLN has a kinda low threshold of profitable rating (doesn’t hurt it’s in the basic bundle).
As for other candidates, Beck’s schtick is just classic batshitry and mostly targets people already holding public-figure status. Folks are likelier to remember he’s just another talking head, talking out of where said head is stuck, since he does not bring in the authoritativeness of a “former prosecutor” reporting on crimes. You can listen to him and laugh at (or feel sorry for) the crazy guy on the TV. If anything I’d have the greater moral censure for him for being a shill for that gold scam. Jenny McCarthy, yes, has a far greater potential for causing death and suffering but does not come across as doing so out of malice aforethought – or any thought. One could be either outraged, or hugely saddened, at how she has reached in desperation for the wrong answers. (and one can always look up the naked pictures to remember a time she provided more redeeming social benefit)
Nancy Grace, OTOH, I just can’t find any damn silver lining.
My family and close friends have been given explicit instructions (and no, I’m not joking) that should I meet my demise in some tragic or headline worthy way that NO ONE is to allow either of those harpies anywhere near my story. I’d rather hear the smarmy tones of A&E crime recreation shows or be played by Tina Yothers in her triumphant return to television in a very special episode of L&O:SVU that have either of those bitches utter my name.
Just a quick clarification. I believe the U.S.’ overall population is a little over 300 million, but that includes children. Since I read recently that the country’s adult population was a little over 200 million, that was the figure I went with.
Regarding the Jenny McCarthy/Nancy Grace comparison, I don’t think there’s any comparison. True, McCarthy has beliefs that if taken seriously can cause harm, but I don’t believe she is anywhere near in Grace’s league when it comes to utter reprehensibility as a human being. I made the mistake of watching a clip of Nancy Grace’s interview with Elizabeth Smart last night and I swear I could have punched my computer screen.
And yes, Jane Velez Mitchell is almost as bad, but I get the impression with her that she’s mostly role-playing, with Nancy Grace as her role model…probably at the behest of CNN/HLN. On the rare occasions that I’m exposed to her, I’ve noticed that she has even begun to copy some of Grace’s irritating speech patterns, like breaking up key words in a sentence and pronouncing them as though they were exclaimations in their own right.
Nothing in particular. I just saw her fucking ugly face on the CNN website again and just could not take it anymore.
For me Jenny McCarthy is a distraught and irrational mother who is trying to do what is right, even though it does great harm. However, no one is giving her that platform or imbuing her pronouncements with authority. She is engaged in a flawed and damaging, but understandable activity.
Nancy Grace and her employers are trading off the ignorance of the masses to make money, make people more ignorant and incidentally destroy the lives of the subjects that they erroneously vilify. It trades truth and human decency for profit. Its bald-faced immorality is enough to make Wall Street investment bankers blush at its brashness.
That would be Oprah. She gave McCarthy a platform, went to great lengths to promote her, and treated her has having more authority than she could ever possibly warrant. Offhand, I’d say that the Oprah Winfrey show was a more powerful platform than all of CNN as a whole.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Oprah is bad for America.

I’ve always been puzzled by the Oprah phenomena. I never watched the show, and it just seemed strange that people would spend twenty five years watching an hour a day of what appeared to me to be a completely self-centered woman chatter and shout about herself. Now only seeing the ads and tabloid headlines and parodies may be a skewed view and insufficient to judge that she is self-centered. I guess I just don’t have a basis to judge, but a woman naming a show, a magazine and a network after herself does seem on its face to be narcissistic.
I won’t pretend to know the reason behind Oprah’s popularity, but it’s clearly based on her identity and personality. Given that, it only makes sense to use her name as a brand for all her ventures. it’s what her clientele looks for. It isn’t narcissism; it’s smart business.
Yes, Nancy Grace is the most repellent, disgusting person in show business. She inherited the title from Kathy Lee Gifford, who inherited the title from Anita Bryant.
So what newbie will inherit the title from Nancy Grace?

Jenny McCarthy is just ignorant and so are the people that take medical advice from her. McCarthy needs someone to blame for her burden, shes found like-minded parents who also feel like victims. That doesn’t excuse her but she doesn’t even begin to approach Grace in vileness.
