I wonder where she would score on this test?
I do think it is wonderful that she is loathed equally by folks on both ends of the political spectrum.
Kumbaya, my Lord, kumbaya…
This is a common complaint of mine, about how the news networks focus on missing people who are (choose three) white, female, good-looking, moneyed. I even wrote about this back in 2003, when this board only had 150,000 threads…
As for Ms. Grace, I can’t stand the woman. She’s every ugly Southern white female stereotype, turned up to 11.
Nancy Grace…uniting America. (Into one seething mass of hatred for her.)
:: daemonic bureaucrat hat on ::
As the representative of the Great Mouth to the Dope, I must protest any suggestion that the Grace woman prays. She is reliably and firmly in her allegiance to Mephistopheles and does not need to call upon our Adversary for assistance.
:: dbh off ::
Oh yeah. Her fiance was murdered when she was in college and I guess it fucked her up for life and turned her into a monster (or more of a monster, I don’t know).
What bothers me is when she tries to act like she feels empathy for crime victims. I don’t buy that. She just wants to pounce on someone, the victim of a crime is just a stepping stone to getting a chance to go after someone/anyone. If it weren’t crime victim A, it’d be victim B.
I guess it is good that she directed her vengeful impulses into a socially constructive outlet (most people with those hateful, vengeful impulses who want to direct them constructively join the legal system or military). But I’d never let her near anyone I care about.
Her husband is actually a well respected judge. It was thought in certain circles that her show began as a caricature of certain bad behaviors occasionally exhibited by some judges off-bench. And no, I will not elaborate.
Not enough she didn’t lie her ass off about everything remotely related to his murder in her book and on interview shows.
Did you really mean to type ‘repellent’ in the thread title? Or did you mean repugnant? She’s more repugnant than anything else.
Sadly, too many American Midwest/southern white women identify with her big yammering mouth and that stupid trailer park drawl for her to lose her place on tv.
Yes, I did mean “repellent.” “Repulsive” is also good. “Disgusting,” “filthy,” “repugnant,” “Vile,” “Horrific,” “hellspawned” and “reprobate” also work.
Be nice if she was repellent enough to repel everybody who turns on a television.
OTOH, if she couldn’t occupy herself with helping us spot who’s a mouth-breathing, drooling cretin, who knows what horrible activities she might spend her time on? Making pies out of young children, then feeding them to puppies, then making pies out of the puppies and feeding them to the children’s parents, or something.
Heading up witch hunting and the lynch mob are socially constructive now?
She’s just someone who has learned that there is a certain moronic demographic (or she is someone who is part of that certain moronic demographic) who doesn’t understand that “accused” is not the same as “found guilty”. She has also learned that there is popularity and attention and hero worship available to those who lead morons in their outrage that accused people are afforded rights that they should not be since (according to morons) they are “guilty”.
Did anybody see the episode recently where the guest, in talking about the defense in the Anthony case, said “Well I’m sure you’re familiar with the ‘spaghetti defense’ where you throw a bunch of spaghetti at a wall and hope a piece sticks. What the defense is praying for is that…”
at which point Nancy interrupts her. “NO! I’m not familiar with that at all! I was a prosecutor and I’m not used to dealing with lies to get a murder off!” or some such. You just want to frigging slug her through the screen.
I so hope her husband is embezzling her money and ends up running off with the pool boy after framing her for a series of murders of rich white girls.
If that happens, I’ll kick into the fund to buy the movie rights, but only if you are writing the screenplay…
Be the feel-good movie of the summer, that would.
Who could play Nancy Grace? My first choice would be Coco Peru, after that perhaps John Travolta in drag with a southern drawl.
Kirstie Alley could be a great Nancy Grace. Bonus points: her southern accent would be horrible and she would weigh about 300 pounds more than Nancy, which could be the thing to drive Mrs. Grace to the murderous frenzy we all believe her capable of performing.
Beth Broderick played a Nancy Grace-like character on an episode of Leverage.
This is hilarious! Anybody know the background story on this? Was it Elizabeth’s last day?
The animal part at the end was edited in later. Fake, but funny.
Yes, she did. IIRC she claimed his was murdered at a convenience store by a random stranger with a long record of violence, and then something about how he almost got away with it. The reality is that he was shot and killed by a co-worker who had no previous record who confessed the murder later that night. Her excuse after being found out lying about all this for twenty-five years? “Well, I was going by the information I had at the time. Plus it’s not something I spend a lot of time dwelling on.” Which of course is bullshit because she was more than happy to publicize her version of the story to anyone and everyone who would listen, as I said, for the next twenty-five years.
Last I heard she was making a spectacle of herself yesterday at the Casey Anthony trial, audibly gasping and then dabbing at her crocodile tears when a photo of Caylee Anthony’s skeletal remains was shown in court. Making sure by her reaction, no doubt, that the jurors fully appreciate the horror and sadness of this little girl’s death, which most surely would have been lost on them without Nancy’s faux-emotional reaction to point it out to them. Either that, or she wants to use her onw as a talking point on her show. One thing we can be sure of though, is that not a word out of her mouth is honest and heartfelt, but phony and calculated to bring about some desired result.
