Is Navi-Path the reason the boards have been slow lately?

We’re still using Juno for our e-mail, although our ISP is actually MSN.

Juno sent us this recently:

Is the closure of Navi-Path the reason why the boards have been slow lately? Does MSN use Navi-Path? Does the SDMB?

From a Google cache, as their Home Page isn’t functioning, http://www.navipath.com/

Probably not. While the closure of a carrier can have an impact on those users who would frequently find their data wandering down said carrier’s pathways, Navi-Path is (well, was, I guess) sufficiently removed from the SDMB servers to not have a real impact on all users.

Which isn’t to say, if you are using a Juno access point, that you personaly arn’t being affected. Even if you were, though, you would likely notice it as a general slowdown accross the whole of your Internet meanderings, and not just a slowdown in a particular site.

Caveat: the fluid nature of Internet traffic makes this a difficult question to answer, as traffic will take different directions depending on conditions. Still, I would suggest that any slowness on behalf of the board isn’t part of Navi-Path’s demise.

DDG, I think Louhron is right. The board has more traffic and could be reaching its current capacity.

But if you want to see where the long response times are in your path to the SDMB or anywhere, here’s a basic article about resolving Web bottlenecks.

There are also utilities which can display your connection path graphically. One of them is called NeoTrace, and you can get an evaluation copy from their web site or various download sites like ZDNet or CNet.
