I was in a store yesterday and they had a display of various bacon themed products: bacon action figures, bacon fridge magnets, bacon mints, bacon band-aids, bacon dental floss, bacon soap, bacon kool-aid - you know the usual stuff (and, no, I didn’t make any of these up).
Not too surprising - I knew bacon was “in”. But alongside the bacon display was another themed display. And it was all pickle products. There were just as many pickle-themed products as there were bacon-themed products.
Well then, food Dopers, it’s time to make pickled bacon, and bacon-infused pickles.

Unless I’ve missed something, no, it’s not. I’d say that you’ve found a single store that’s an aberration and/or trying to start a pickle craze where none exists.
Can’t say, but Pickle sure does make a cuban. (Which might actually be better if it had Bacon, too…to the La-Bor-a-Tory!)

There can never be a “new bacon”, for no other victual will ever surpass bacon for divine succulence. The idea!

Ah. Fair enough, then I’d say it’s an attempt on the part of numerous companies to create demand.

I hope this isn’t heresy, but until somebody starts making bacon with garlic and dill we will still need pickles.
